Behind you there would have been the Spa on the hill. Missus Arry and I went there on holiday in June. I ended up getting frisky with her in the balcony infinity pool and we nearly got thrown out
Tenby is on the up, for sure. Pretty part of the world. If you ever get down there again pack your walking shoes and get yourself to Barafundle Bay. Accessed by foot only, it's quite a walk. But it's worth it. |

Had a ride to Ennerdale today. Excellent bacon butty at the Filling Station in Keswick first (four large rashers in one butty, well done, very nice ), then along by Buttermere, on to Cockermouth for a coffee, then found a short cut through Kirkland. On the way in:

Parked up in the little car park, locked lid and jacket to the bike, and off down to the lake. First view:

Fungi by the path:

One of these days, I'm gonna take a packed lunch and just sit here all day watching the light change:
https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0668_zpsw0dkz0lv.jpg
Colours of sunlit stones on the stream bed caught my eye for some reason:

Pillar again:

One of these days, I am gonna climb it, but probably from the Wasdale side.
I hadn't planned on doing a full circuit of the lake, cos I haven't done this much walking in a day for nearly a year (and last time was here funnily enough, in autumn), but decided I had the energy after all. The other side is a much more rugged path, if a little shorter:

More fungi:

Details:

Sun starting to set now:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0733_zpsia3t3dfi.jpg
Not far back to the car park now; just as well cos I'm knackered by this point:

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0740_zps4trvxgj1.jpg
Did this walk (in blue), plus about an extra mile or so at the top of the lake:
https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0742_zpsfce8ffio.jpg
Thought I'd better grab a couple of shots of the bike on the way home, but my camera can't handle very low light levels:
https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0745_zpsvt6xn2xe.jpg
https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0746_zpsevzhzawo.jpg
One last not very good sunset shot before it got dark:
https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/nicknicklxs/DSCN0747_zpsti731xxm.jpg
Stopped again at Cockermouth for a coffee on the way back, as I hadn't had anything for hours and was desperate for it. Then actually quite enjoyed riding home in the dark.

Yep, definitely signs of autumn's approach, but there are compensations. Better for photography, for the light and more clarity in the air. Walking the fells is more pleasant with lower temperatures, and the Lake District becomes less overrun with tourists, summer holidays finished so less families and kids, less caravans blocking the roads. Shorter days means I can catch the sunsets without having to be out silly late too.
Put an extra layer on when on the bike, and it's still quite pleasant at the moment though. Actually, it was still pretty warm when I started out, and by the time the temperatures started to fall, the walking had warmed me up.
Spring and autumn are the best parts of the year ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Local Enfield group run to Matlock today from Northampton, the others have booked into a hotel for a few day's riding around the Peak District, but I have to work so came home again; just short of 200 miles and 79.7MPG ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Aye, but I think 200 miles is my limit in a day on this bike - the vibes eventually get to you and the single seat offers very little variance in riding position. As the miles go up the vibes are getting less though, so it might get pushed further later on. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Oh yeah, and where did I go on my bike today? Nowhere, just like the rest of the weekend.
Got a very rude awakening early Saturday morning from neighbour a few doors down, saying she was having 3 tonnes of hardcore delivered to landscape her garden with. Very nice, I said, but what's the got to do with me? Well they've refused to put it out on the road outside my house so I'm having it dropped in the rear access lane instead - so if you want your car or bike out today, best do it now, they'll be here in 5 minutes.
Oh cracking, well thanks for the notice and the consideration of my plans. Dare I ask when you're likely to have all 3 tonnes of this shit shifted? Well it might be done by tonight but it's probably going to be tomorrow night. Yeah great, so if I get my bike out there's every chance I won't be getting it back in again and will be leaving it on the street overnight with no theft cover - lovely stuff, I'm sure you'll wedge me out if anything happens eh?

Did anyone here go to the vintage Japanese bike day at the Ace Cafe yesterday and get some decent pics? Would have liked to have attended that one myself. Nothing like that up here that I'm aware of ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

I'll have to keep an eye on their website.
Just had a quick gander - I notice they run a Jap car meet quite regularly, but no Jap bike meet, even though they say it's a "cafe run by bikers, for bikers" ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

I went out on the Chinese pos again Sunday just for a spin and to get my cup of tea from the burger van at Mistley via Lawford and cattawade.
I did well as I got out and back before the rains started.

All the pictures were taken using my phone.
My phone didn`t have the ability to take a picture of all the Egrets on the fore-shore in the distance, but there were about thirty!
Saw a very nice and shiny BMW RR while I was there and a couple of plastic bad boys with their pseudo patches and Japanese Harley look likey`s I larfed.
But hey bikes is bikes and each to their own , at least they were on two wheels.

Thought I would head out on what is now becoming a rare evening off with nice weather. Went to Loomies Bike night. Quite a few interesting bikes out tonight, I think people are trying to make the most of the last dregs of summer.
Sunset...
