Was scouting a route for a trail ride I'm leading on my Beta next week, newly opened services near Spaldwick, what was supposed to be quick 90 minute round trip on my Honda to check a couple of things turned into a 5+hour trail ride on the wrong bike cos I got carried away and kept riding Laughing

Often how the best days start. No good stories start with a salad, comes to mind.

Had a good run to the Ace for the first time ever. Sausage was splendid.

Are there any decent routes to this place, I've been there once and found it a nightmare to get to and not much fun? Im coming from Hampshire.

Nope, it's on a god forsaken road just up from a devilish junction with a bastard trunk road.

It's about 25 miles from me and that's about 22 miles of abject misery. The other 3 are just about bearable.

Arry is right, it's not a nice ride. It makes a decent and relatively central point for us all to meet up at though, and it's worth a visit when there is an event on you might be interested in.

Coming round the North Circ used to be mildly amusing as you could dip and duck in and out of the traffic, which made things "Death Star trench run" sort of fun.

But there's now a load of average cameras all the way along it now so it sucks entirely.

Going to the Ace also requires you to enter London which isn't particularly high on my priority list these days. Living there for a couple of years was more than enough ta.
But I will go, in order to enjoy meaty sausage with my fellow comrades of BCF.

NYMR steam railway 40s weekend.

Levisham Station becomes an "Allo Allo" themed occupied village, officially renamed "Le Visham" for the duration.
It's all in the best possible taste. Laughing

These officers were looking for wanted persons and had mugshots of Donald Trump.
Fortunatey my papers were in order.

This event centred on Pickering has become hugely popular - it's hard not to enjoy the infectious enthusiasm even if it doesn't seem like something you'd like.

There are a lot of bikes there too, not least because (car) parking is difficult due to sheer numbers attending.
It's all free to wander round.

From the north there is back roads to Harrow Weald, the last couple miles at the end are a bit grim of course.

Local Enfield group runout through the B roads to The Great North Road Vintage and Classic Vehicle Gathering, in the village of Barrodwen, Rutland:-

Was a bit damp at first until the mist burned off, but the day improved with some of that actual sunshine stuff. I think it was 15 bikes, 9 of which were Enfields. Some weird and wonderful cars and vans dotted around the village green, only a handful of bikes though.

Stopped off afterwards at the Hungry Hog Cafe on the A47. And by "cafe" they mean "portacabin in a lay-by". Cheap and cheerful, decent grub.

Around a 90 mile bimble, good to be out and not wet Smile

As the weather is still nice, and it's still pretty warm, went for a run out to Bassets Pole, a few there, didn't take any pics there, I have loads already, so, I thought tonight's pic should be at the old terminal at Birmingham Airport. Makes for quite an atmospheric shot, it's a shame I didn't do this before the concrete crash barriers were dropped in place.

After that, it was just a saunter back to Wolves ..

... and today after work, a ride out to get some shopping, and a stop off at Wrottesley Park.

100 mile green lane ride, about 2/5ths green lanes, 3/5ths obscure twisty back roads. Same route, more or less, I scouted out on my Honda CRF250L last week. Today I rode my Beta.

One big off, and a bent gear lever - which was mended.

No, but it is a Tesco. Good news is the Morison's has 2 jet wash now too, as they were all closing down round here.

Yes, but pricey. There are 3rd party bits and pieces now, like re-enforced chain guards, KTM and a few others make pistons.

BETA's own Kick start kit is £500 iirc 😕
