A very early morning ride from Dundee up to Inverness then back down the Great Glen before heading East, back home, along what must be one of the best biking roads in Scotland - the A86 from Spean bridge to Laggan. A long, tiring day but excellent fun.

Some sunshine, some heavy rain and just shy of 300 miles (just shy of 300 tanks of fuel on the Tuono).

I went to Inverness once, empty road for a couple of hundred miles followed by traffic jam in the town and me getting lost and going the wrong side of the river, and not finding the Travelodge.

Unfortunately too many chores for me today to get the chance to go far, but I did have a bit of a saunter fairly local Shropshire countryside, about a 60 mile round trip after tea, that's all.

I took a couple of Pictures in Norton, the Church, and the 100 House Hotel, where they do lovely, if expensive meals, and then 1 more a bit further up the road, with a bit of scenery

No photos, because it was dark.

Rode from home to "home" yesterday. ~112 miles all in. Should have been closer to 93. Longest ride I've done in over a year, and definitely the longest I've ever done on this bike.

I got lost en route, so what should have been a nice easy 2.5 hour ride turned into closer to 5.

Didn't want to ride the motorway. Because.. Bike. Nice weather. Beautiful roads.

Route ended up being something along the lines of:
Woking > Chobham > Frimley > A30 > A339 (to Newbury) > B4009 > Hampstead Norreys (realise lost) > A34 (to Abingdon) > A420 > A415 > A40 (to destination)

With many stops in between to check the map and a couple to defrost...

Glad bike is here now. Don't intend to do that agai any time soon!

I know compared to some it's not a very long ride at all... But it's my small accomplishment!

Decided to pop out to the local 'bike night', although that description stretches it a bit, what with the dark nights and all that !! Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes The pub in the Royal Oak on the Bridgnorth Road, and to be fair, in summer, bike nights can be pretty busy !!

Photo quality not the best, as just had my point & shoot camera with me..

Took a little Sunday morning blat down to Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome.

Didn't stop to look around as thought I didn't have time.

Then got home and realised clocks had gone back and I had an hour to spare after all. Doh!

Still, a nice run and somewhere I'll go back to.

Goth spotting in Whitby.
It was a very easy job to spot a goth as it was heaving with them to the point you could hardly walk down some congested streets without stepping on crinoline.

Good to visit on bike though especially if you know the secret parking places.
Note swing bridge is closed due to sheer weight of lace, leather and velvet clad promenaders.

Predator seemed to have eaten a few judging by his belly stretching lycra undergarments.

The last few years have trended to cybergoths and steampunk, this year quite a few pastel goths (it's hard to keep up and adjust your make-up accordingly Laughing )
I noticed a lot of Chinese/Korean/Japanese some in animé style outfits

We stayed in Whitby on Goth Weekend a few years back and dressed up as Mystery Inc. I dressed as Velma with skirt, pointy knockers and all.

The 'serious' Goths thought we were taking the piss. Which we naturally were. Even got refused in one pub in case it kicked off...

The more serious Goths are probably almost outnumbered by those just dressing up extravagantly now.
I'm not really into it despite living close by, this is the first time I've been in at least ten years.

In the early days Goth/Alternative/Metal was more of a thing and I liked some of the music.
Now it seems more extreme and divided into different factions.

Sunday, so set off in search of Lacock (could have just looked in the mirror).

Found it near Bath.

The journey down was good, blue sky and amazing yellow, gold and orange leaves. Particularly the A31 (usually commuter misery for thousands each day).

The roads over Salisbury plain were great fun.

Proceeded to Lacock Abbey (once home of William Henry Fox Talbot, not a maker of rusty cars, but the inventor of the photographic negative or some such).

240 miles, got back 6pm. That last hour was runny nose, numb fingers chilly. Good to be out on the bike though Smile

Duxford Imperial War Museum again, because it's not far and I have a season ticket. This shot reminds me of my boyhood bedroom ceiling with its Airfix and balsawood planes suspended from cotton threads.

Not far from me too.
The American exhibit wasn't open when I last went.
Time I went back.

I went to meet my Dad in Stratford-Upon-Avon today.

We had a mooch around, had a coffee, more mooching, Sunday roast, more mooching and then once we'd pretty much covered all the interesting bits called it a day and went our separate ways.

Didn't take any pictures apart from the finest cultural display:

No statue is complete without a traffic cone atop. Good job, citizens of Stratford. The coach-loads of Asian tourists got a full taster of the British town experience! Thumbs Up Mr. Green

If you go again the MAD Museum (Museum of Art & Design) is quite a fun place to visit in Stratford-Upon-Avon. Great for kids too.

Aye, I did spot that on Tripadvisor, and also walked past it. Would have gone in, but my Dad's not big on that sort of thing. Certainly something I would do myself though.

Out and about again. I did plan on going to Hartside but the single tracks called for me, so I couldn't resist a bit of exploring instead Surprised

This was my route, from Middleton to Stanhope, 20 miles of single track roads, might have been better on the DRZ but I like the fuel range of the KTM for exploring purposes.
