175 miles Guildford to New Forest (Exbury Gardens)

Roads were completely empty until Winchester, bizarre and brilliant (not the reasons behind it).

Nothing major from me, but I am hoping to get out a bit this week as I'm in self isolation Dance!

Needed to get 50 miles or so to bed the new Avon RoadRiders in. Now complete - feels like a totally different bike.

I knew it would because I'd ridden a Bullet with them on before which is why I wanted to change to them. But now I've done it I can't help but feel I've made my Bullet less Bullety. Hmm.

Anyway, popped to a fishing lake with a little cafe and grabbed some lunch.

Did enjoy. KTM today if the weather holds out.

I was in Exbury 2 days ago (in car though). Do you get a bit frustrated with a superbike in the Forest? I tend to avoid it when on my GSXR.

I'm envious, I have to work from home. Unfortunately logistics doesn't stop with the plague it gets busier Sad

Quite a lot isolating on bikes. I was sat here yesterday with the window open and it sounded like a sunny Sunday with all the bikes passing through.

Are they the ones with the "normal" looking tread? As opposed to the ones you see with the front tyre that has a tread pattern from 1923.

Thanks yeah, obviously, I've got my Interceptor, but, missed having a old feel single. When I sat on one of these at the NEC a couple of years ago, I liked the feel of it. They are on sale at a very reasonable price now, so, I thought why not? When riding, it feels very much like my Bullet 350 did, just has that bit more poke to it, higher top speed, and it doesn't shake quite as much Laughing Laughing

Yeah, insurance hasn't gotten any quieter either. I've been responsible for our official comms, claims surge team response, policy wording queries etc and now have the FCA on my case Doh!

Yeah, replacing the 'high square' rear and the grooved front - SM's I think they're called. I just didn't like them. On the limit riding was pretty vague.

I had ridden bullets with the RoadRiders fitted over in Spain and they were much more capable with them fitted. However, I can't help but feel I've undone some of the charm....

My mate had them on his, first time I rode a Bullet. Awful things, made me dislike the bike till I rode it a year later with better rubber. I think part of the problem is when the bike is so low powered we tend to push the other characteristics harder, those tyres can't deal with aggressive cornering.

My CGT still has the stock Pirelli Sport Demon, not a bad tyre. I've abused them so far and not had any tyre related squeaky bum moments.

Exactly that.

On the Pirelli - a mate of mine also with CGT replaced for RoadRiders and finds them a lot nicer. If you're happy with what you got mind, no point in the change for sake of it.

Arry, you spurred me to have a go at this motorcycle self isolation.

Found some crap work related excuse to ride my bike across Wiltshire. As more or less report to myself the excuse was immediately accepted.

Enjoyed the desolate roads to Devizes, as fun as empty roads are on the way back I decided to use the Army tracks and byways.

The hill doesn't look much but it was an arse to get down, the track under the gravel is waterlogged so any braking and you start to slide.

Stayed on the gravel, ground was too wet to try the mud track.

Views like this are what get me pondering making the bike a scrambler. The big single makes riding on these tracks very easy.

Glad to be of service Thumbs Up

Great pics there and that does look like fun.

I went somewhere familiar for the second day in a row - this time on a different machine though Wink

And attacked the little lanes a bit on the way home.

New Forest is different to where I am, always feels like a holiday vibe (perhaps due to a childhood holiday there).

So it holds my interest and I forget about broken bones and dead muscles.

But yes, in general, anything less than 60 is intolerable after 50 miles. Which is why I'm going to sell the bike this year......or was until the bat flu kicked off.

Don't get me wrong, the bike is fantastic. I'm got the suspension to 90% where I want it to be and on a day like the Exbury one, the idea of being on another bike was criminal. The engine noise is pretty quiet around town and brilliant on the gas. The shove. Done 7,000 miles in 2 years and still not bored (how can you be!) with the grunt.

But it's a track bike and I'm more interested in going places and seeing stuff.

If I worked harder, earned more and had a bigger garage, it would stay!

My older (K1) Thou, comfort is not to bad, even with the silly rearsets. It's more lower speeds, it's frustrating to ride like a civilised person Laughing I should get rid of it but I'm attached to the thing.

What you thinking of replacing it with?

Only got out for an hour on the tracks and woodland behind my home. Needed it though, work is getting mental thanks to Corona Plague.

Have a pre-plague booked holiday on Monday so hopefully get somewhere further afield. Maybe the coast, it'll be nice without all the doddery pensioners there.

Thats the thing. It gets on my tits as much as I absolutely love it and can't imagine it not being in the garage.

I wouldn't get another bike. Would slum it with just the 2 Smile

Remembered why exploring not previously explored tight country roads is a bad idea. First one of the day, and the last. A million small stones and traces of mud. I did a 301 point turn (bridge walkway too tight, and panniers):

https://i.postimg.cc/RhgBCSvg/424.jpg

&. there was one of these, whatever it is:

https://i.postimg.cc/QN7BSv0v/023.jpg

&. then went on one of my favourite roads since it was sunny-ish (some wind) and discovered that letting sports bike past is my new thing.

Front forks on the CBF1000 are interesting. Absorb the bumps they do not.

For all its boring-ness the CBF comes across as a mile muncher, but a bland one at that. The engine is smooth (minus a few funky gear changes) out on the open road but it doesn't really excel at much. Sort of tourer on a budget (minus the cost of fairings, radiator etc).

Still, rode with the panniers on (may have been a contributing factor with wind drag etc) for the first time and think I much prefer them over a top-box for balance during riding.

A glorious couple of hours out in the local countryside today was had.
Had a minor sphincter clench on a bit of gravel/dirt when the front slid a bit followed by the rear.
Slightly too much lean/gas while turning right into a little used junction off a main road.
I should have realised there might have been crap on the road but I was really busting for a piss at the time.
Anyway, I managed to keep it upright so it was a bit of a non event.

Took the Enfield out this morning, headed South before turning back just before Dorchester. It was deathly quiet

Fancied something different in the Afternoon, again roads were like 0400 on a Sunday.
