Some of you helped out with suggestions for sub £1000 bikes for if I get "can you start next week" as a response from job interviews, at which point I need to swap my Varardero for something I can commute on motorways.

However, I find myself really really wanting an ER6f (preferably in blue) and wondering how much I should be looking to pay for one.

Might be able to cope long enough on the vara to be able to get straight on one / get something to cope for a month or so.

Also, anyone got any experience of restricting them to comply with the 33bhp legislation?

Hi not seen a blue one until i just googled it Razz If its fuel injection you get then the restriction is a throttle stop (screw) and a plug that fits in a socket located under the seat which i think is just a link wire..Thats on my 2011 model

Kawasaki charge like 150 + for this little screw and plastic plug which takes about 5 mins max to fit hopefully you can pick up someones old one on ebay.

I have an ER6f and have restricted to 33bhp (09 model) same as above its a small 90 degree bent piece of metal attached with a screw, which was £170. I was shocked..

However they are nice bikes, where abouts are you located? I have seen a few nice blue er's near me (manchester)

Go to ebay, search for ER6f. Select manufacturer Kawasaki on the left hand side scroll down menu. Scroll further down the left hand side menu to categories and click cars, motorcycles and vehicles. Scroll down again to show only and select completed listings.

You can then see the price / age / condition of Feb bikes that have sold in green and those that didn't sell the asking price is red. Classified ads are grey.

I'm located just north of manc

Trouble I have is, I'm quite tall and the varadero is all I've known beyond the little CG I did my CBT on back in July, got the vara two days later and been riding that ever since.

I tried riding a Suzuki GS500 at the training centre to get the feel of a 500 (I did my test on my vara) and found it really quite cramped and no dealership will let me test ride something that isn't restricted (understandable)

I just really like the look of them.

My instructor has one however... He also offered to come look at and test ride an unrestricted bike I was thinking of buying so that we know anything that might be up with it and I'm sure I'd just get used to it.

By the Kawasaki kit direct from Kawasaki, it costs £35 and fit it yourself in 10mins for the win.

Check on ebay as people have said or price. They are a good "first big bike" my local school has just started using ER6n as their DAS bikes.

Cheapish to run, cheapish to insure / service etc. As easy as any bike to do your own service on too.

I've found parts easy to find and accessories easy to get too.

If possible, try and budget for crash bungs, bobbins and a paddock stand. Possibly a Haynes book of lies too.

There is an owners forum at kawiforums too.

Older ones, factor in new down pipes Rolling Eyes

Even if it's been replaced by Kawasaki it will only go again. They just replaced like for like. My wifes ER6 has gone twice. It won't go again as a mate has welded it to the standard of a warped person (only better Razz )

I have a restriction kit for an 08 ER6F which is a plug and a throttle stop. Postage cost to Manc about £6.00 guaranteed next day.

Look here for details

Hurr 65 restricted down to 33 The world's smallest violin player, just for you!

Lovely bike though, one going for 3k in leicester, seems about ball park for low mileage
