So i had a dream last night which was by far the worst i think ive ever had.
I cant remember exact details but i was in my friends house with about 5 other people and each one was becoming possessed. At one point i knew i was in a dream, yet every time i attempted to wake up it didnt work. I shouted help several times but only a whisper came out. I even remember at one point i couldnt see anything, but i could hear my bedside light switch going on and off, and all i could see was the faint light under my eyelids.
A lot of the time i just remember laying in bed in the dark, but i was still in the dream but couldnt shout or anything. I felt suffocated..

When i finally woke up fully, for the next 5 minutes i was convinced i was in yet another dream, thats how strange it was.

I have read up on sleep paralysis, and i'm convinced thats what it was, similar to what this pig is experiencing:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omzsLqbgRaU

Question is has anyone here experienced it before? And is there anything which could have caused it? I did take some antibiotics earlier...

I have a horrible recurring dream. Each time it gets worse and worse...

I'm basically at a closed front door.
Its all dark, I can see things but its just.. no lights at 7pm style you know?

When I turn around I see a set of stairs going up to a landing area.

When I started to get these, there was a figure on the landing.

Like this but without wings...
https://1.bp.blogspot.com/_YC7zCGZBq3E/TIuNTiZp-TI/AAAAAAAAC6E/yXs8GXwF7pA/s1600/GrimReaper.jpg

Every time I have this dream, its always closer, back when I first moved in to my flat, it was around half way down the stairs. I've had it recurring for around 4 years now. Freaks me out every time Laughing

Weirdest dream? I have a reoccuring one about the BCF BBQ!
We're in a field, which is being shared by a carnival and Cansa is riding around on a "Volkswagen Golf Motorbike"
Then he flips it and the dream ends! Laughing

Last nights dreams were pretty cool, revisited a place I've been before in my dreams. At one point was in some woodland looking for deers when a large cat (like leopard size) with came right up to my mate and started whispering in his ear. We shot it with the .243 but it would die despite being all fucked up.

A few days ago, me and a random were being beset by some people who wanted to harm us in some way. I ended up beating them to death with a claw hammer, then we ran down the street and hid in some front gardens.

I've been having some pretty grisly dreams lately, slightly disturbing but doesn't really bother me. Funny part is I'm not violent at all in real life and I hate watching gore films. Recently I've had to witness people being burnt alive, dissected and now beat in with a hammer in my dreams.

Hello.

It was 100% definitely Sleep Paralysis.

First time I got it I was 18, I think. I absolutely 100% thought I had been abducted by aliens. I was fully conscious but had no sensation and no ability to move. My brain was trying to fill in all the gaps with feelings of things that weren't there - I felt a strong buzzing feeling, and also sort of like I was levitating. I repeat, I genuinely thought I'd been abducted by aliens. I found I could do one thing - make the dull noise of a person who couldn't move a single muscle apart from the ones I used to breath. So... lying there, awake but paralysed and with really weird 'abduction' sensations, I went, "mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!" Then suddenly woke up next to my girlfriend, who heard the noise and wondered what was wrong. I was utterly shaken, almost wanted to cry, it was such an ordeal and of course felt 'real' because it was actually real and wasn't a dream at all.

So anyway.

It's called sleep paralysis and is real. You mentally wake up but your body is still in the paralysed state of sleep. So your mind fills in the gaps with sensations of reality. I used to get it very regularly and soon I was used to it and quite enjoyed it.

Sometimes it would happen and I'd jsut think, " Rolling Eyes here we go again." and I'd fight it by forcing myself to move, even though I couldn't. I'd be thinking, "yeeeah my arm is moving! I'm moving my arm! I win!" and I would be able to feel my arm moving around. Then I would eventually wake up and find I had my hand under my pillow and hadn't been moving it at all.

Doesn't ever really happen any more. For me, it seems to have tied in with the times I was taking drugs and stuff - booze included. Now I'm clean as a whistle and don't suffer from any of that stuff.

Thumbs Up

I get sleep paralysis all the time.

Best thing to do is not to be scared. If you really want to start moving again, start with your fingers and toes, then slowly you will regain all movement. If anybody genuinely comes into the room, or a sound goes off, you WILL instantly regain movement.

I read alot on the subject, because it started to happen more frequently. There is a theory, that sleep paralysis is a state inbetween awake and dreaming. so if you concentrate on relaxing yourself, calm your nerves and clear your mind, you will go back into a dream. Some people experiment with lucid dreaming this way.

Has anyone ever gone to an "in-between place"? A few weeks ago I kept waking up into an place in between dreaming and consciousness. It was very much a waking up feeling from an actual dream, ending up in a plain sort of room without any detail. The from the inbetween place I woke up into real life.

Weird part was I kept being able to go back into dreams from the weird place, or choose to wake up into real life. Then go back from real life into the weird place, then back into dreams.

A bit like the "wood between worlds" in Narnia books.

That advice on how to deal with SP wont help me lol.

Ive been thinking about it today. My room is pitch black at night, we dont have street lights in the village so very little if any moonlight comes in.
My vision is pretty bad too so when im in bed without glasses/contacts in it makes things seem darker still. In the dream when i could just see darkness, i thought i was in hell or dying/dead. I vividly remember trying to scream 'help' but the more i tried the more i felt suffocated. At one point i waited what felt like 20 seconds or so then shouted for help one more time, it was mildly louder but still more just like a 'MMMMMmmmmm'.
I dont know what caused me to snap out of it, but like i said when i did i still thought i was dreaming. I then remember rolling over, checking the time and saying to myself 'fucking nuts mate' then went back to sleep.

Sleep paralysis for me aswell. Bloody horrible the first time it happens, not a clue whats going on or what to do (Not that you can do anything anyway). Second time it happened it still weirded out from it but knew what was happening.

I just want it to happen when the girlfriends round to freak her out.

You would be surprised on how important your thoughts are in this sitatuation. Fear is a powerful negative emotion, and if you let it occupy your mind, it manifests in your 'dream'

It's totally normal however to feel scared right now, sleep paralysis is a frightening experience, but remember; nothing can hurt you.

Consider the dream to be your 'thought realm'. Naturally if you feel negative emotions, you will attract/create negative vibes and scenarios.

Has only genuinely happened to me once, and only last year. When I was younger I had loads of night terrors, but since the age of 9 nothing. Usual dreams, a few lucid, but this was awfully scary.

I woke up, but couldn't move anything (no shit huh Laughing ). I closed my eyes, to immediately open them again and see a work colleague at the end of my room, sitting down with his back towards me. I then slammed my body back down to the bed, as I had without realising sat up. I blacked out, and what felt like seconds later I then fully awakened. Looked at my clock. 11pm.

A few other things happened, but I cannot remember what they were. Everything felt real, noises, sights.

I was in bed for a total of 15 minutes. Hasn't happened since, hope it doesn't again.

I'm using nicotine patches at the moment and one of the side effects is incredibly vivid dreams. Unfortunately they are also horribly messed up, basically whatever I've been doing/watched/experienced that day turns into the most vivid nightmares I've ever had - I watched the film Threads (again) and basically replayed it with me at the centre of the dream. I can never watch that film again..

I've had it numerous times. I was being strangled once by something and I genuinely thought I was going to die. My ex commented the next day about me wimpering as if I was trying to speak in my sleep.

I've been attacked by the dog out of The Thing (just after it sprouts legs) and had full on brawl with it on my bed. I only woke up because I punched the floor lol.

It really is frightening!

Nightmares a cool.

I had a dream ages ago I can't remember it all but I was living in like a Spanish town with courtyards and things. The house we lived in was haunted with loads of poltergeist activity. Shit was happening and I was thrown out the upstairs window backwards and landed in the courtyard on my back.

At this point I felt awake, but I was still in the dream. In the dream a ghost or something floated down from the open window and was getting closer to me and I was screaming for help. I had woken up though and I was back in my bedroom in real life and could see my room.

I was screaming for my gf to help me but she was asleep and I couldn't move to wake her up. She then woke up and shook me awake. I'd be moaning really loud and woke her up.

I was genuinely petrified at being frozen and in a situation of pure panic in the dream. I didn't want to go back to sleep. It was better than any horror film. Thumbs Up

I read somewhere it happens more frequently if you lay on your back, don't know whether it's true but heard trying to move a finger, than a hand, then arm etc helps snap you out of it
