Fuck banning things, I support the notion that human beings are actually capable of making an informed decision for themselves. While often not the case, I'd prefer the assumed position to be one of capability not one of needing to be cared for.

If people wish to fill their bodies with filth, that is their lookout.

Might not be advertised to me but I drink lots of beer.

We walk into a shop and we see all this bad food ... but it's ultimately YOU who shouldn't eat it so much.

Also, junk food can be quite nice ... it's self control that makes me not eat it all the time and become a rotund fucker who blames adverts.

Sort of like that woman who died probably because she drank 20 litres of coke everyday. That "was coke's fault because they don't tell you not to drink 20 litres a day".

The State should not be relied on to nanny us. Boils my PI$$, same with pornz on the internets now, you have to opt in. Fuck that, how about parents do some parenting and stop their kids from going on porn ...

Food isn't the issue as such, life styles are. I know I eat at the wrong times, binge eating at the end of the day instead of loads of little meals throughout the day. I don't have breakfast, rarely have lunch, but tend to eat large amounts after 8pm. That and not having the time to do regular exercise ( 12 hour shift with an hour each way commute 5-6 days a week doesn't leave much time for anything really these days). There is a bit of comfort eating in there too, but that is just a symptom of the issue.

Don't get me wrong, there are some who are just lazy fat fuckers who just eat and eat, but like smokers, they will keep on doing the same no matter what.

If food adverts were banned, would our lives be worse?

EFA.

Some Nathan Barleys[*] would be out of a job. We'd pay more for TV, but make it back on lower prices for, well, everything.

[*] At the time this aired, I was doing mobile phone development. I had the Wasp T12 Speechtool mockvert on screen when the Big Boss stalked past. "Does our stuff run on that yet?" he asked. SRS faces had to be put on all round...

KFC does lots of advertising. Yet I dont walk in to one.

I never see adverts for single malt whiskeys, or huge eisbeins or T bone steaks, yet I will buy it.

Instead of banning food adverts, just put a tax on obesity, like a surcharge each time they use health services due to an obesity related problem. They are putting a toll on health services that healthy people must pay for, not for an accident, or illness, but for something self inflicted.

It is a weighty problem.

The UK is listed as 3rd to 10th fattest nation, and USA first, depending on if small developing nations considered

https://www.nationmaster.com/graph/hea_obe-health-obesity

In the USA it shocks you as soon as you get off the plane. Just massive fat people everywhere.

So tax football matches, bikers, horse riders, DIYers etc for using the NHS.
How about exterminating black people to stop racism? If they weren't black then they wouldn't need to be hit and end up in hospital. Or perhaps tax models just in case they get shot?
Daft idea as where do you stop?

Yank airlines do that apparently, charge fat people more. I'm due to take a flight later this month. I am absolutely certain I will be sat next to a fat git who will flow over into my seat.

This only works if there is moral hazard, i.e. personal responsibility.

I run over a kid in my van, I should be expected to pay for it because I directly caused him harm.

Yet a fat bloke who stuffed his face with lard, requiring a fork lift truck to get out of the house and a quintuple bypass op. Who's going to have to pay for that? People like me who had no part in shoving lard down his throat.

While I may stuff a ton of Fray Bentos down my throat, I pay for it by going to the gym regular.

I know the feeling. I flew to East London (the SA one) once and had this enormous black woman sitting next to me, overflowing into my seat, fat rolls and massive udders etc. And a meal is served. To get the table down even more elephantine flesh was forced to my side. The smell and having to sit next to this monster shovelling food down her gullet with her hands are enough to make you think apartheid is justified just so i dont have to repeat this experience. Laughing

If she'd have been white, would it have been more tolerable?

Yes because you wouldnt have that bush smell and eating food with your hands rather than a knife and fork and chewing with an open mouth with peices falling out.

Given the amount of red meat you wolf down, your arteries must be harder than Chuck Norris' beard trimmer. Same applies to you?

I've not yet seen an advert on TV for either weed, coke or whores.

Hasn't stopped me spunking all my money on them over the years.

Thumbs Up

Why ban things? Stupid f*ckers can eat crap food if they want.

Banning things that can or may cause harm is the most retarded policy ever, ever, in ever, FOR ever. Ever.

It'd stop the massive amount of money dealers make, and maybe crackheads wouldn't have to rob all and sundry to sell for pennies for the next hit.
