And its taken until now to get a bike.

After lots of trying to save up, I decided to get a credit card and pay via that way.

CBT - 01/12/2012
Theory - 06/12/2012
Mod 1 - xx/12/2012
Mod 2 - 17/01/2012

Due to being 23 I left it very late! The rule changes were part of the reason why I got a credit card.

After a bit of thinking, I decided to get rid of my car and get a bike.

I went for a test ride yesterday on a Yamaha XJ6-F ABS. I fell in love with it there and then.

My car was sold today and I went straight down to the dealership to pay. Its £5,995 (2012), deposit of £1,495 and 36 monthly payments of £125, even better is its 0% interest for it all Very Happy.

Riding home I had the biggest smile on my face, it was lovely to ride. I've got to take it back on Thursday for a oil/filter change, and they didn't know that when somewhen last took it for a test ride they had the 33bhp restrictor left in, so they'll be taking that off Thursday also.

Its currently sat on my drive, I can't decide if I want to ride it to the cinema tonight (and sit in my gear) or leave it at home.

No decent photos yet, but one from my test ride.

I came very, very close to buying one new in 2011. I got all the way through the paperwork but baulked at the last minute. It was the same price as yours but new - inflation I guess - but I bought an SFV brand new for £4,013 instead. I just couldn't pass up saving the best part of £2,000 considering whichever one was going to be restricted to 33bhp.

I still wonder whether the XJ might be better now I'm off restriction but, saying that, I still find the Suzuki to be really, really good.

Enjoy the bike but for Christ's sake get a tail tidy. Thumbs Up

Did I read the OP correctly?

they'd put a restrictor in it for some one to be able to test ride it?

Cracking bike you've got there, I was very tempted to go for a yamy xj when I was first looking. I tried to buy a divvy at first, but apparently the engine blew up. Oh well, it was red and everyone knows the fastest colour is black.

BTW, what on earth is that huge plastic thing sticking out the back?? Are you supposed to mount a big spoiler on it or something? Needs sorting out methinks. Tail tidy ftw. Thumbs Up

p.s. I noticed no one else has said this yet, so I will; did you get a discount for the twisted subframe??

I guess it must have been for someone who only had a restricted license. To be honest, I didn't notice on my test ride (£1,000 excess for one!), and it felt bloody fast on the dual carriageway.

Ha! You would think I would know that we are in 2013 now!

Whats a tail tidy? *googles*

I went to the cinema, friend who I have a thing for (despite nothing will happen, but always a little bit of hope! She likes the bike too!). I was a little bit worried to be honest, especially when a load of chavs parked next to me. But, its in one piece and still there!

Went for a little ride after, not too far as I'm up early tomorrow.

I'm going to go for a ride Sunday after work I think, depending on the weather.

I love it...I am annoyed it took me so long to get around to it!

The dealership are doing a commuter package for £400 (should be £500+), which I'm tempted with, but unsure at the moment. Plus, as I've borred a bit from my brother, I'll need to pay him back first!

Oh, its not the credit card that is 0% for 36 months. Its the finance on the bike (Black Horse I believe?), my credit card is 0% for 16 months.

No idea, might look into it once I've got the paperwork (I forgot to bring a rucksack to bring paperwork/lock back).

Looks nice, but kind of strange with standard bars rather than clip ons, given how much of a "sports commuter" makeover they've given the rest of it. Thinking

About £100 at the moment, disc lock and lock to take too and from work. Getting a ground anchor and bigger chain soon though.

Nice bike.

As I said in the other thread... it's not what I'd have chosen for an all-year-round usage bike, designed to replace a car, but it'll be good for spring/summer anyway!

I might regret not having a car one day...but until then, I'm going to be smiling every day!

I still have use of a car, so if worse comes to the worse (ice/snow) I can get by.

Funnest thing is, one of the reasons why I got it, other than to save money, was to save time. I was fed up with it taking up to 90 minutes for a 15 mile commute at school kicking out time for my second job. However, my main job, it takes me longer to get ready than it does to get there.

Went for a nice ride today after work, getting more confident by the mile. Not too keen on stop/start traffic up hills yet, so going to take the long way back tomorrow with lots of hills to practice on.

I'm looking forward to the restrictor coming out, I struggled to get up to 70 on the dual carriageway with a head wind! Guess it doesn't help that I'm a fat bastard either though!

120 miles so far.
