I got a HP DeskJet 3050A when they were selling them for £25 last year, just starting to run out of black ink now but I looked up the prices and it makes me wish I'd bought 2. I saw a refill kit on ebay for £9, are they any good? I've lasted a year on the stock cartridges which are apparently only 3ml so it would probably last me years.

Refills are fine if you're not wanting amazing quality printing, which you don't get on most home printers anyway, I doubt you'll spot the difference. I use non-branded replacement cartridges for my Epson 2100 and it's absolutely fine Thumbs Up

I don't know if it still works the same, but it used to be if you bought a cheap printer then you paid a fortune for the cartridges... that and I've always stuck with epson as they seem to have a fair print quality and cheap cartridges (own brand and clones).

At the moment I've got an HP all in one thingy that someone gave me free as it needed new ink.... When I checked the shops the HP ones will cost me about £50.... I just use pen and paper now (then try to translate my writing)

I bought a cheap (£30) all in one scan / print / wifi printer from pishy world last year
when it ran out of ink I went to get new cartridges, they wanted £24
I noticed the printer was reduced to £25 so I bought a new printer
now my sons have a scanner in there room (the old printer)

refills can be hit & miss as can generic replacements, I've had issues with both before
though most times the refills & generics are Ok to use

try here, a set for your printer for £19

It's like razor blades - need new blades you're better off buying a new bloody razor. So annoying...

Anyway, I've used Cartridge Save in the past - they deliver fast and have their own non branded replacements which are reliable enough. Never tried refills because TBH it's only a tenner in the difference and for the sake of that and with the small amount of printing I do, it's indifferent to me. If I was to start printing more and more stuff, though, then I'd give them a whirl.

I have the HP Deskjet 1000, and bought both branded and compatible ink without any problems. I've not used refills as yet, but would seriously consider it.

Bit of an update, I ended up going with a refill kit. It was around £25 for black and colour ink, or £8 for a black & colour refill kit from ASDA, no brainer really Razz Messy work though but got the job done and got enough left over ink for a life time probably.

My local computer shop recommends and sells Jet-Tec cartridges as the only 'spurious' replacements for my Epson worth using so 'Hello Amazon', half the price than they sell them for.
