Had the day off work yesterday so:

3pm:

even though it's ~2c, being on holiday means that an ice-cream is mandatory:

Very Happy

Nice one. I'm a fan of the battered sausage and chips from that particular establishment.

You're only up the road from me, let me know when you go for another!

I can remember when all this was fields y'know..

to be fair it is a bit ugly, and loud.. to the point where it feels loud even with earphones & music on, or -35db moldex plugs.. but I particularly like that when it's off the bike you can see through it from one end to the other Very Happy

Nope, I forget the brand but it's a late 80s copy of the corbin gunfighter shape. There's quite a lot of it isn't original these days Smile

My mum lives about 200 metres from that exact spot.

Beautiful ride down to Aberystwyth from the Midlands/South. I'll be going down many times this summer, can't wait.

Glad you enjoyed your ride Thumbs Up

Used to go to Aberystwyth every year for our holidays - so long ago that there was an underground arcade on the front, with bumper cars in it and loads of ancient, mouldering first generation video games. Oh and a big old wild west infra red shooting game where you would aim at stuff to get it to work, like a bog door opening to reveal a defecating hill billy, etc. etc. AWESOME. The pier is sawn off, cos a storm knackered it back in 1923, or something. Oh and there's a funicular railway at the north end that runs up the side of an old slag heap. Good times, good times. Laughing

Good eye Smile

So far it has:

- ZZr1100c rear wheel, rear brake, modified swingarm, suspension legs, dished 17t front sprocket and 48t rear

- AMC (japanese import) rear undertray - mainly replaces rear mudguard to clear the 17inch / 180mm rear tyre but also removes the plate hanger and rear plate light, much tidier

- Single profile seat (corbin base with a recover from another US brand)

- 4x k&n style pod filters

- Dynojet stage three jet kit

- V&H 4-1 exhaust

- zx636r stick coils

- +5deg ignition advancer

- 900rA7 model front end (17inch front wheel, no avds system, 4pot calipers)

- ZZr1100 switchgear (oh dear sweet push-to-cancel indicators how I missed thee)

- manual starter chain tensioner conversion (standard automatic tensioner was trying to eat the clutch basket)

- zr750 gear lever on a zx12r lever bolt (mounts outside the foot
peg hanger, the original gpz one mounts inside the hanger and would foul the chain)

It's in pieces again right now as it's undergoing another front end swap which will see it end up with ZZr1100D yokes & forks plus gsxr1000 6pot calipers and possibly a zx9r wheels if I can work out which one to use.. Plus, I've just bought a zzr1400 clutch lever, perch, master & slave cylinders for it (practically the same price as a genuine new gpz slave cylinder would've cost), and I'm hoping to find a zzr1400 brake lever & master cylinder to match soon

So yeah, it wasn't exactly standard when I bought it but its well on the way to being a frankenbike now Very Happy

Love the bike, the concept is pretty similar to what we did a while back https://i.imgur.com/0ILNlaXl.jpg

Rear end is ZZR1100
Front end is ZRX1100
Shocker is Hagon ZZR
Switch gear is ZX7R
Master cylinder is ZX7R
Clocks are ZRX1100
Zx636r stick coils

The only thing it really needed was painting.. Karma

That's a really tidy looking bike Tom, the big round headlight really suits it in naked form Smile

Did you move & hide the oil cooler or just remove it?

Also, what was the zrx front end conversion like, looks very similar to D model ZZr1100 lower forks and wheel?

Well, to be honest, i dont know much about it as it was my dads project..

The cooler was removed and it ran fine for months.. Never got above 97 deg..

I think the whole front end is ZRX, inc wheel.. Im not sure how easy of a conversion it was but we do still have most of the bike icluding the front end, No clocks anymore though. If you are interested give us a PM.

If you do go down the road of ZRX front end WITH clocks, I know we had a problem with the rev counter.. Something to do with pulsing.. idk, so it read at half. But i remember my dad working on something which he called a "flip flop" circuit that sorted it out.

It wasn't that bad.. I have fond memories of playing with my toy cars on a nicotine-yellowed formica table top whilst my Grandmother competed against a hundred other OAPs in the high-stakes Evening Bingo matches (1st prize being £25 and a rather fetching Chinese plastic imitation Tiffany Lamp) under a 3foot thick rolling fog of cigarette smoke..

Plus later memories of the indoor water park they built at Ingoldmells where they decided to dye feral pigeons random colours (because that'll totally make them look like Parrots right?) and release them inside, creating the perfect mixture of small children, pigeon shit and water flumes

Honestly, I don't know why anyone would waste money going abroad for their holidays Laughing
