Been a few car related post so I'll give you guys a shot.
Had the Expert for seven years, been as good as gold. Last Weds. the clutch pedal made a sort of crunchy noise a few times during the journey. Next time out, went to put into first at some lights, the pedal went straight to the floor. Shuffled around a bit, pulled the pedal up with my foot, everything back to normal.
Its a cable clutch so not a seal or cylinder failure. I have a very faint memory that it did this around the time I first bought it and my very fallible memory recalls that it was a common fault. Cant get much sense out of the interweb and the local garage says they can find nothing amiss.
Anyone any ideas what to look at?

The self adjust cable dont last forever. My 306 one is fucked but to tight/lazy to change it in this cold weather.

How many miles has it done? My first guess would be that the release bearing has worn its way through the fingers in the clutch cover. My 1.9 Berlingo van did this at about 130k miles.

Ah, a self adjusting cable, that sounds like the fault. The ratchet must be giving way. Thanks for the replies and I hope to God its not more involved as it would be hard to justify a big repair bill.

Cheers
