Recently changed my stock exhaust system on the Striple for a decatted single exhaust jobby.

Had the Arrow low boy Map installed and had my first blast out in mid Wales yesterday.

Low and behold, despite my ragging it about everywhere I managed to get over 48 mpg.

Normally I get 40 - 43 mpg. Cool

This was the main thing putting me off the bike as a future "when I'm not a bit skint" purchase. What does the map reportedly do to BHP?

edit: Looks like it increases it. Mostly down to the fact the bike has to be made to run a little rich as standard to keep it running right with all the emissions bollocks.

It seems a bit smoother too although it now pops on the overrun. Very Happy

No, the stock map is leaner. I'm surprised the richer map improves mileage.

Nah that's the best bit! I've got the proper map anyway and it still does it - the 3-in-1 Arrow map is richer than the stock map.

Not all that confusing.

Less restriction to the exhaust outflow means less of the energy is being used to push the exhaust gas out of the engine and more is being used to move the bike forwards.

That's why they make more power with loud pipes.*

I remember riding for many miles along roads in the highlands with a mate on identical bikes made in identical years on identical tyres. He had a loud can, I had the stock can. I put 2 litres more fuel in at every stop.

*EDIT: Obviously not the only reason Tef.
