After some advice really, from anyone familiar with the ignition on Renaults.
My new van has 2 keys, and electric windows. As well as central locking that works.
My plan is to change both doors and the ignition barrel, so I can have 2 keys for my van, as well as rem central locking and power windows.

With the added bonus of the same keys being able to unlock the trailer door when I build it, as its all off the same van.

I need to know exactly what I need for the keys etc to communicate with my van.

Ecu I guess is an obvious one.
Barrel, doors and of course the keys.

Will I need anything else, like a receiver?
My van does have remote central locking but it doesnt work. Not sure if its the key though. It wont program no matter how many times I try.

Any help much appreciated. Smile

seems like a lot of effort for the sake of having 3 keys ?

Not sure what you mean, having 3 keys...

My daily driver van, only has one key.
A replacement key is well over £150 by the time it's been coded to the ECU etc.

My second van, has 2 perfectly good keys (Same key, just a pair of keys), and the central locking all works.
The doors also have leccy windows in them.

So by swapping 2 doors over, I can instantly have working central locking motors (mine dont work on my van), and power windows.
I'd also like to change the ignition barrel over so I can use the pair of keys, rather than my own single key.

The other reason I want to do it, is because my door locks have started to get temperamental, and spin inside the door, rather than unlock it. Quite common on Renault door locks as they wear out.
Having central locking on the remote key, means I wont wear out the new locks by using the key every time.

It's just a change I want to make, but struggling to find exactly what will be needed to do the swap. I want to know, so I dont leave myself stranded with no working vans. Laughing

Oh I see I feel so stupid haha, I thought you meant by replacing the rear door you had a diffident key for that door and the normal key for everything else and it seemed like a lot off effort for just one door but I understand now Smile thanks for dumbing it down for me

Nooo. My rear door on my van, is on a solenoid, so it's keyless.

My 'new' donor van, has a locking rear door.

If I use the side doors, and ignition barrel (And of course, fuel cap) off the donor, and then build a trailer out of it too.
1 single key, will operate my entire van, AND my trailer. Smile
