q1 Does my brake light/tail light have to be visible from the side??

while i am at it

q2 Is there a spec of how far apart the indicators need to be??

q3 What angle "should" the numberplate be at, and can i have it under the rear mudguard.

Hi

This is educated guesses, so no links.

Suspect the tail light needs to be viewable from a certain angle (which is why quite a few imported 4x4s have the spare tyres relocated from the back door into the boot).

There probably is a spec for how far apart they should be, but plenty of bikes have had them quite close (versions of the Ducati Paso with the rear light and indicators all together).

Suspect the numberplate should be vertical, or close to vertical (but then so should L plates). It should also be illuminated.

I take it you have a bike that needs to go through the SVA test. If so I would try and find a guide for the SVA test from the testing authority.

All the best

Keith

There are very specific regulations about both tail lights and indicators in respect of minimum and maximum heights, width apart, wattage and so on which I don't have here at home, so if I get a chance tomorrow I will look them up and let you know.

As far as visibility of the tail light is concerned, providing it is clearly visible when standing to the rear of the bike that will comply with the regulations.
