Is this do-able/acceptable/SAFE??

Basically, the rear downpipe on my Varadero 125 V1 has snapped due to rust when I removed the pipes for a repair!
I only need to replace the rear one but Im one for trying to save money and a second hand one is gonna cost around £65 with postage!!!

Ive had a thought of either....getting another pipe from different bike (cheaper) and getting it bent to fit OR getting some steel tubing and getting that bent to fit, with the flange (??) being welded on the end.

Anything is possible and the pipe is just that isnt it? A pipe!

Excellent.
I was thinking of something like pic 1 and just bending it round.

Does it have to be the same shape -ie, angles of bends etc etc or as long as it goes from cylinder to rest of exhaust...?

Pics 2/3 is what happened to mine

The chance of it being anything other than a complete, unusable pile of shit when you have finished is very slim.

Angles will need to be close for the pipe to fit the bike. Length and diameter will affect how the bike runs.

All the best

changing the primary length (even slightly) will affect power- with the price of petrol you might affect your mpg to such an extent that the cost of a pipe will soon be eaten up- and also even if its just a hack bike, its nice to be riding something that looks good
