NYPD cop just said unexploded secondary devices have been found.

Just tabbed to BBC news to find that Boston Marathon was bombed with 2 people confirmed dead & over 20 injured
I don't mean to sound harsh, but they "lead" athletes were long gone, why target the slower runners

very very lucky for folks there, listening to the news reports there was little shrapnel, so was a pure detonation, 1/2 Lb of nails would have made it much much worse

still feel for the injured and the dead though, and for those who are going to feel the repercussions

They'd set the bombs to go off later as there will be more people about by then. Crowds gather to welcome loved ones back. The large majority of people finish between 4-5 hours - looks like these bombs went off around 5 hours (approx. 3 hours after lead runners got in). I would speculate that this was to ensure as many people as possible were caught in the blast but, appalling though 2 dead and 20-odd injured is, it could have been a hell of a lot worse.

Looks like the detonation failed, as 2 additional bombs are being "dismantled"
