Evening everyone Smile

Looking for some advice please! Passed my CBT 3 weeks ago and currently ordered a new CBF 125 from Honda which I get to pick up on Friday.

For extra piece of mind, ive been looking at alarms.

I was really interested in the Cyclone V2 as it seems to have great reviews. I contacted Honda and asked if I supplied the alarm whether they would fit it for a fee, which they said no. They will however supply and fit a DataTool Demon for £65.

The chap was adamant that the Datatool Demon was the better system and that I would have nothing but trouble with the Cyclone V2 alarm.

Now ive had a good look online at the Datatool Demon, and to be fair theres not that many comments or reviews when compared to the Cyclone V2.

Part of me is thinking just get the DataTool Demon as I dont have to worry about fitting etc, but the other part of me feels pretty disappointed as the Cyclone V2 seems like the better option.

Anyone helpful advice greatly appreciated!

The best thing to do with a cyclone is to throw it in the bin. They are absolute rubbish.

Really? All the reviews and posts ive seen online seem to be the other way round! The Cyclone V2 seems to be rated and the Datatool Demon put to shame.

Got a Cyclone fitted on my bike. I only wired it up for he alarm to sound if it senses movement. Took a few days to get the settings right, i ended up using the least sensitive setting which suits me perfectly. No false alarms with passing traffic but it sounds if the bike is even slightly moved.

I can't comment on the immobiliser settings or any other features but for me, as a stand alone alarm, I can't fault it.

Nice and loud, arm - disarm. Easy

+1 for the Cyclone from me too.
Dead easy to fit.
You can just wire it with 2 wires (to the battery) if you like, the remote start and immobiliser functions are optional.

Fitted a V2 to my CBF125 at around 4000 miles, ridden in all weathers, now coming up to 24000 miles. All features (remote start, immobiliser, hotwire detection etc) work on the CBF. Still working great. Thumbs Up

The only guarantee that an alarm gives you is a guarantee that one day the thing won't start, and the alarm failing is the likely suspect.

They're shit. They go off at the wrong times, drain your battery, randomly immobilise, and the bike thieves know how to get past them.

The only bike I ever had stolen was fitted with an alarm/immobiliser. Only bike I've ever had with one, and it didn't stop it getting nicked.

Buy a chain.

Deff use a chain and alarm on it, in fact as much as is practical.

Certainly don't expect an alarm to stop anyone trying to nick it, it's there to alert you and at least to try and deter them from continuing to try and nick it

I would hate to sleep through while some chav walks off with my bike at 2am

Fit an alarm if you want, it's your bike

I vote for the 'passive' protection approach gps tracker and a chain just to stop a small time theif

I bought the cheap cyclone alarm after my old CBR got nicked.
For £20 it does what i need and was easy to wire up.
The immobiliser worked fine but i got fed up with it after a year and now just use the alarm function.
As said already it will make a loud noise and hopefully you will hear it.
They do eat the battery though so use a trickle charger if you are not riding for a while.

Yes Robby the bike will be probably be buried with me Wink

I've had one on each of 4 different bikes over the last 5 years and have never had a problem apart from the LED stopped flashing on one. For the price I think they're excellent.

The only think I can't stand about them is the fucking godawful alarm-volume multiple chirruping every time you activate or deactivate. At least once a month I get gibbons mimicking the noise.
