Hi All,

I was wondering if you could offer me some help / advice.

I have an old Suzuki GS125, however the engine is pretty much shot , along with the gearbox. So I was looking at getting a replacement fitted. I am under the understanding that the GN125 , DR125 and GZ125 used the same engine as this bike? Is this correct and are there any other models that share the same engine?

I was quoted £500 fitted from a local shop for an Chinese engine ( which I'm guessing isn't as good as a good old Japanese engine )

Thanks for any replies , help , advice.

you could easily find a s/h china suzuki copy engine for less,or even a whole bike.If the wiring is the same then its easy to fit,not too heavy and its pretty straight forward,a novice can easily do it and learn in a day.

Thanks for the reply, I have the engine out. An am reasonably competent at fixing things.

Do you have any suggestions on what a china copy is called? Are they reliable, although tbh as I'm a learner its going to get pretty abused.
