Bought a honda CB250N 1995, looks like i bought a few problems too...

When at idle the headlights, horn, indicators etc. work as they should, however, when reving the engine and riding, all electrics dim (to the point that the headlights are not usable at night.

Ive replaced the battery and checked all connections, all seems to be fine there.

I have run a multimeter over the battery and when reving, the voltage does not increase like i have always known other bikes to do.

Im guessing whoever owned this bike before me had the same problem as all of the pulgs have been sprayed with WD40 and there was a fairly new battery fitted.

Thanks in advance for replys... got another mechanical issue so will be starting another thread.

Why start a new thread with exactly the same symptoms as the original one FFS???. It was all on the other one you just had to list the results for the reg/rec and stator then it would have built from there instead of starting all over again.

I have started this new thread in the hope that others can also have an opinion, as my previous post is on another page.

I think my reg/rec is knackered as when putting the probes on the battery and reving the voltages goes down.

Also i couldnt get my head around how to check the stotor, where do i put the live and neutral probes? which wires do i check? ( theres 3 yellow,1 red and 1 that i think i can remember is green.

Well put all that on the other thread then so others coming into it know what's been happening from the beginning, starting another thread because you have done one check out of all the advice offered isn't going to get you anywhere....keep it all together.
...and to answer your question, if you reread my initial post where it says "three wires of the same colour" and someone else mentions the "yellow wires" you can guess where this is going when you say "( theres 3 yellow,1 red and 1 that i think i can remember is green." Confused

Old Thread Alert!

The last post was made 13 years, 34 days ago. Instead of replying here, would creating a new thread be more useful?
