Ninety-nine percent of my riding is commuting around London and when I do go on the motorway I tend to ride like an old fart and go for fuel economy rather than speed, so after a puncture in my rear I'm now considering putting Slime or some other brand of sealant into my tyres.

A quick Google throws up Halfords but they're selling it in their pushbikes section rather than the auto section. Can anyone recommend places to buy the right kind of slime for tubeless motorbike tyres?

Also does Slime come with the tool for removing the valve inner bit (technical term there, showing my lack of mechanical nouse) or do you have to buy that separately?

Or are there any other brands people would recommend other than Slime that do the same job?

Just had a gander, looks like good stuff. Anyone know where I can get it installed in London / Surrey areas?

The tool to remove the valve core is called a valve core remover or tyre valve tool, they cost about a quid. The screwdriver looking type work, but don't have other uses like the one in the following link:

You can get the puncturesafe stuff on eGay as a kit.

You can get bottles of slime for motorbikes, think hein gericke stock it. The lid to the bottle has a valve core remover on it, the bottle of puncturesafe i had didn't... but you can usually find one in the bicycle section of a shop Very Happy

To be honest I'm so inept / lazy I'd rather just pay a nice man to come to my house and put it in for me. Googling "Puncturesafe London" and "Puncturesafe Surrey" throw up some results but most of them don't answer the phone. The one that did didn't cover my area but he's going to find someone that does and call me back, hopefully.

If any of you lot want to earn yourselves some pocket money you can come and do it for me Mr. Green

I presume your bike has tubeless tyres?

If it does and you fit 'slime' be aware that quite a few tyre fitting places aren't happy about changing tyres with this stuff in.

My friendly mechanic with his own tyre gear won't touch a wheel if it has the stuff in.

I had it in my Goldwing 1500 back tyre, but that was because it was a major workup removing the back wheel on that.

Nowadays I carry one of the puncture repair insert kits. Easy to use and more tyre changer friendly Laughing

slime is slime and can be used in any type od tyre, be it a pushbike or a tubeless car/bike tyre.
Just buy the bottle and use the lid to remove the valve core, squeeze the whole bottle into the tyre, inflate and your done.... shouldnt take more than 5 mins from start to finish.

top tip; buy the slime and ride to a petrol station with a working tyre inflator machine and put the slime in there Thumbs Up
