Alright guys it's that time of year again and I'm looking at some quotes, cheapest is about £164 with protected ncb and £150 without, both with max excess..

Bike is worth around £750 and I'm going to go for tpft as it is cheaper than tpo, I have no intention of making a claim if I bin it/stolen as I think losing the ncb and any increased premium's won't make it worthwhile.. Therefore am I right in thinking that I should ramp voluntary excess up as high as possible?

Is excess paid only on claims that I make on my insurance? Not if someone claims against me?

Cheers Thumbs Up

Correct, there's no excess on third party liability - you would only be liable for your excess if you were to claim for your own bike. Therefore, if you're confident you'd never wish to claim for your own vehicle then if you put the excess right up through the roof, the premium will fall and represent the best value for you in the circumstances.

^^^
That. I had TPFT come out cheaper than TPO last year by adding a £500 excess on a "not worth claiming" policy.
