I held my license for 18 months, then I got 7 points and a fine and subsequently had my license revoked. CD10 driving without due care.

I want to take my test again and I know i'll have to do theory and practical (going to take my car test, I held full car and bike).

When I apply for insurance, do I declare that I was banned? Or was I not banned as they didn't actually formally ban me, just revoke? They didnt say, you're banned for x months so I would assume not?

Also, insurers ask "how long have you held your license". Would I have held it from the date I first passed my test, before having it revoked? Or, is it the date from which I pass my test after being revoked?

Have searched the internet for an hour and can't find an exact answer.

You don't have a licence, it counts from when you next pass.

Having a licence revoked is a permanent ban.. pending passing the tests again.. So yes.. You need to declare that you were banned, or at least tell then you had a licence revoked. It is a material fact, and if you don't tell them, when they find out insurance will be cancelled, which will make any future policies more expensive, that the sky high price they are no doubt at now.

As your licence was revoked, you have no licence, so the new start date will be from when you next pass your tests, not from when you first passed, as that licence is now null and void.
