I recently took the baffle out of the Scorpion exhaust on my Hyosung.

It makes a lovely noise and has a bit of extra grunt, but i'm a bit worried about anything else I need to change or adjust to keep the bike healthy.
I rang Scorpion who say that nothing else is needed, But my mate says it will mess with the fuel/air mixture and cause it to run rich. Im a bit confused Confused

Any advice would be much appreciated Very Happy

I stand to be corrected, but how the hell can an exhaust affect the mixture? It's not connected in any way to the intake, it's an exhaust Confused

Checking the plugs will tell you if it's running rich, my idle was a bit erratic because my mixture wasn't correct in the first place. My bike didn't need anything done to it when I stuck the exhaust on and took the baffles out, you'll lose a tiny bit of mpg with no baffles though. Nothing to worry about imo Smile

Exhaust changes can and do affect fuelling.

If you want your brain to bleed, ask motadman for a science lesson but it is essentially all about pressure waves and gas flow.

That said, I'd expect a road legal exhaust can to make very little difference.

when I took the baffle out there was carbon round the inside of the pipe. is that a sign of running rich?

Scorpion said it was fine , but I suppose I had better check the plugs after a bit all the same Confused
