I'm off on long bike trip next month and need to replace my aging Olympus SW1050, does any one have any recommendation for a good travel camera?, must be compact and able to shoot HD movies as well as take photos.

Looking to spend around £250.

See my post (post #4) in this thread - https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=271263

Fuji Finepix HS10. It's what I took travelling for almost a year. A little bit more bulky than a little pocket camera, but way smaller and lighter than a mega DSLR thing.

Also:

Costs around £150
Uses AA batteries so can replace easily, (or use rechargeable ones)
Uses standard SD memory card.
Films HD
Also films mega slomo if desired Laughing
There are newer versions of this camera too.

This is a good deal, don't worry about them being in Hong Kong, it would arrive in 3 or 4 days - very well thought of company.
You'd need a spare battery but they are inexpensive NB-5L type and one from ebay will do.
Maybe a 32GB SD card too.

I have the Cannon s110, it a tiny camera, you can put it in your jeans pockets and not even notice it's there. Seems to take really nice photos although I'm not exactly a photography boff. Has lots manual control, as well as auto and a load of in camera special effects like fish eye lens, selective colouring ect. Touch screen and wi-fi.
Video is 1080p at 24fps, 720p at 30fps or VGA again at 30fps.

All the reviews point to the Sony RX100 being the best in class but it would probably be a little out of budget.
This was shot on an RX100, amazing what skilled people can do with a little compact.

I'm very much tempted by the Fujifilm FinePix HS30EXR which l can get for £220, but i'm not photographer even though l do like taking photos and just seems a bit too large to carry about on a bike.

The Cannon s110 looks perfect for size and function.

The main Flickr group pool for S100 gives an idea of what it can do.
Especially good in low light (S100 is the previous version, not much difference internally)
