So I was reading the DVLA website, and it was saying it must be a 125cc that can rech 60mph.
Just wondering if it needs to be able to do that like an Aprilla 125 can, or if the ability to just push 60 on the straights will be okay?
And how relevant it is to the actual test and so on.
Because my bike, while having an advertised top speed of 65, tends to hover more comfortably around 55 on most of the local roads, as there isn't enough space to hit 60+
Of course on the long flat straight roads, 60/65 is attainable. and on the hill on dual carriageways, indicated 78 can be reached (more like 75 by my Dads CB500 speedo).
But yeah, is the any specific requirements that I can check to see if my bike can be used, as "capable of 60" is kind of vague, as I can hit it, but it isn't a nippy procedure.
Because if it doesn't fit the bill, I will have to use a bike from the evil test center, and pay more, not a major problem, just need to figure it all out before I go ahead and book everything. :<

I'm presuming you have a CG 125 or similar. It'll be fine for the test, better then most other bikes in fact because you'll have a really good turning circle.
If you bike isn't in the best of states hiring one from the centre might be better.

62.5mph or 100kph is what it has to be capable of. it doesnt have to fly up to 60, chances are you wont get up tot hat speed throughout your entire test, but the fact that the machine is capable of it means it is capable of keeping up with traffic and most other sensibly ridden bikes.

Turning circle is FAR more important. should you attempt a test on any king of sports bike then a U-turn will be ver dificult. something like a CG/CB/GS would be perfect to do the 33bhp test on.

I took it on a 125 that took an eternity to get to 60mph.

They're not going to speed test your bike when you get there, all you need is a bike that can eventually get up to 60mph in NSL parts.

I did 60MPH on my test, we entered at national speed limit zone, one quick life saver before I accelerated and the instructers car was a dot in my mirrors Laughing

And I was on an SR125 too.

A 125 4 stroke is fine for test, they dont care if you only hit 55, just as long as you have the will to get there!

Test centres are turing away peole on rs's and mito's as they are too fast.

I just adjusted the gearing on my CB125, now it will do 62.5+ in 4th Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

So long as you prove you can ride safely i really dont think that they care about a few mph.

Your examiner was in a car? I thought they were on bikes?

Depends.

Some are on bikes some are in cars, makes no odds.

My first examiner was clearly a very good biker and well into bikes, he rode his pan.

My second examiner looked like he didn't care much for bikes and was in a big BMW, it was raining on that day though.

After failing the direct access test twice I took my test on a CG125 and never got over 40mph and that was only for a short time.
The bike on your test only has to capable of 62.5mph.
