I've got in on IOTA today as it happens. It's pretty volatile at the moment so I'm trading against the volatility. Up 0.65 coins in 2 trades so far Laughing
Only had a 0.21eth buy-in so keeping it pretty low-level for now.

Oh also my working capital is eth that I bought with dogecoin that I forgot I had. Always thought I had 11k doge, turns out I had 96k, which was about $200 at time of trade to eth.
If only I'd bought into BTC 4 years ago when I was mining doge...

IOTA has the potential to be incredibly powerful but it is still in the early stages of development.

It is definitely the most "gamble" in my portfolio but fuck it, I bought about half my IOTA stack at 0.20c and the other half at 0.50c.

Anyone sat on $1000's who held out? Would be cool!

First mined about 0.1BTC back in 2010 when I heard about them as it was a bit if a novelty. Wiped that drive for the annual windows reinstall and didn't transfer them as worth nothing at the time.

It's best not to think about what all the bitcoins I've mined and or traded since ~2013 would be worth now! Laughing

I could really quite do with the hundreds of thousands of pounds that the coins would now be worth but oh well, shit happens. Laughing

Hasn't it been quite volatile during that time though? You'd have needed nerves of steel to think no, these will be worth x in years to come.

How does one "get in" on this thing?

I've got a spare day tomorrow, I think I'll do some reading up.

Now, if only I'd bought more Smile

A heady £2.85 profit per month.

High-rollin Very Happy

I'm still holding on tightly to that 0.01 BTC, now worth almost £90 when I paid about £7.50. Not sure If I'll ever let go of it now Laughing

Research and more research.

Hard to do when one coins team is posting bullshit about another coin so you need to read from multiple sources.

But yeah, holy shit. Iota and XMR over the past week, fucking crazy.

From the limited reading I have done, sounds like IOTA is going to be pretty big and has quite a few advantages over blockchain.

It's quite new and low entry price so it seems like a winner to me and will be strong in a couple years.

Bitcoin.

If you really have to go into altcoins, Both TheArtist and myself have given some good advice in this thread that still stands.

Remember the important thing is market cap, not the price of individual coins. Iota seems cheap but there are 2.8 billon miotas. There are less than 17 million BTC. This is a very big difference.

Reading the news today and Nicehash got hacked and the servers blocked by the owners. About 4700 BTC ($63.92 million) lost, although I susspect some of the owners just moved it elsewhere.

What is/was Nicehash? A service where you could mine BTC and other crypto currencies. It was used by single individuals to a multimilion worth mining farms.

Now, what could happen? If the owners of Nicehash stole the BTC, they might now flood the market, which could lead to a price drop of BTC on the market. 4.7k BTC sure could influence the exchange rates.
They say Nicehash will still support other curencies, such as ETH, but that's not as profitable.

What does that mean for ordinary people? Cheap graphics cards for gaming!

Nicehash is a mining site/pool.

4.5k BTC wouldn't make much of a dent in the price of BTC, over $13bn dollars worth were sold yesterday, and apart from that, there's little chance the hackers could move it to an exchange in any meaningful amounts.

The news of it happening didn't upset the price, it actually rose afterwards, so it means nothing to anyone that didn't lose money.

It's almost like what I've suggested Ribenapigeon yesterday, about doing something illegal as their team building.

Did you actually do it, Ribenapigeon? Thinking
