These Ethereum are making me some nice monies, they look settled at over £300 each now and keep rising on a daily basis. I do hope people bought into them when I mentioned them at £150 each.

A nice site to view the current state of the market.

https://coinmarketcap.com/#GBP

It looks like Ethereum is on track to take on Bitcoin as the leading coin by Capitalisation.

Without a doubt. There are big names getting involved and more to be announced at the EEA3 in China, any day now.

https://entethalliance.org/members/

Obviously prices can fluctuate, but just look at the overall graph since last year, it's been on a nice ascent and all the signs are there that make this a good investment. The coin has a real world use and is being rapidly taken up by companies as the future for their payment systems.

Toyota are developing an automated 'uber' type car that collect payments via the Ethereum blockchain, so if they are happy pumping money in, I am too. There is also almost £28bn circulating, so it's not just some pie in the sky dream, it's out there.

To purchase them, I would go to coinbase, buy 2 bitcoins and then send them to my bittrex (an exchange) wallet and then use that exchange to buy Ether at a favourable rate (which is it right now).

The artist put in £8k and that's now worth over £120k.
He did buy it cheap though, but it shows how much there is to be made.

The lesson to learn from this is that they weren't cheap to me at the time. I had 700+ Ether at one point when they were $7 but decided diversification was a safer option, especially in such a volatile market place.
Bitcoin weren't cheap either when I bought at £100 or £1k.

The only way to decide if you want to invest is:

1. Can you afford to lose the money if it goes to £0 overnight.

2. Do you believe the technology and development team behind whatever coin you are looking at. If you do, it might be worth doing more research and perhaps buying some.

3. Don't get lured in by fancy marketing or a few comments on reddit/forums. So many shitcoins around right now. ICO's getting >$100 million valuations with ZERO actual use or product to show for it.

4. For gods sake, use an offline device to store any reasonable amount of coins. Either a laptop that will never see the internet or a hardware wallet. I have 4 Ledger Nano S's now as well as a Trezor. Laughing

Yeah that's great advice for these ludicrous ICO's that generate tens of millions for nothing more than a whitepaper, but Ethereum isn't the risk those are.

You know full well you wont pull your money out yet and if you did, you'd be making one hell of a profit Smile

Ethereum is still a massive risk. All of crypto is. What is a few countries decide it goes against the "establishment" jadajadajada...

It certainly has SOMETHING behind it rather than just a promise and some greedy devs.

Long live Vitalik

Agreed, it's promising but certainly not a sure thing. If I had £5k disposable lying around I'd probably dump it in, but I didn't so £1k had to do, point is don't put anything in you're not willing to risk losing.

I wouldn't say it was a massive risk, but for sure there is some risk, just as there is for any investment. I doubt any countries would block the trading of it, that would surely have happend during the darkweb/bitcoin days and was talked about but never surfaced. Due probably to the virtual impossibility to bring down the currency via the blockchain.

Ethereum being picked up by blue chip companies also helps to distance the currency from the darker side of trading in cryptocoins, which can only help its acceptance into the mainstream.

Of course with any investment, caution should be applied, I am by no means an expert.

So

Set Wolf miner up on the usually unused desktop.

I see this (sample only):

Code:
[23:35:57] New job at diff 15313
[23:35:57] Thread 1, (CPU): 18.31H/s
[23:35:57] Thread 2, (CPU): 18.29H/s
[23:36:11] New job at diff 15313
[23:36:11] Thread 2, (CPU): 18.81H/s
[23:36:11] Thread 1, (CPU): 18.76H/s
[23:36:31] New job at diff 15313
[23:36:31] Thread 2, (CPU): 18.88H/s
[23:36:31] Thread 1, (CPU): 18.90H/s
[23:37:01] Thread 1, (CPU): 19.03H/s
[23:37:01] Share accepted: 4/4 (100.00%)
[23:37:01] Total Hashrate: nanH/s

Anyone explain what it means? I assume the share accepted is a good thing. So how many do I need to get some XMR into my wallet?

Just use Minergate, it's much easier to use.

I've added the bitcoin currency converter to my homepage at work and have a little look at it every day when I get in. I bought 0.01 bitcoin back when 1 bitcoin was worth £775 (around when I bought this thread back), happy to see it now around £2200. I just came in after one weekend or so at it was up there.

Now, if only I'd bought more Smile

Thanks, not really what I asked though is it? I'm now getting consistently higher hash rates than when I use Minergate. Wondering how long it will take to show some sort of balance in my wallet.

I sold 1/3rd of my Ether yesterday. Need to put some cash in more conventional investments.

Will probably rebuy them if it drops significantly, as in <$150.

My attempts at trading in the past have not gone well so this time round, I am doing the opposite to what I was doing then. I am selling high when everything looks good and I am happy with the profit and buying when it's all doom and gloom.

Yeah, due to the spike in popularity of crypto, as were Trezor when I checked. I am sure Ledger are massively increasing their production quantities because there have been shipping delays for a while now.

BCN isn't bitcoin.
