I recently purchased a cagiva planet 125 (2000) with a siezed engine (piston) no damage to barrel bought new piston, rebuilt it, now sometimes it won't turn over ( just makes clicking sound) like starter motor sticking, took starter off and seems fine put it back on will turn over then let button go then just click(won't turn engine) replaced battery still doing same thing, does anyone have any idea what it could be?? Thanks

Ignoring any possible debris in the crank for now....try using jump leads to power the starter motor directly. If that works you know it's wiring related. If that does not work then maybe the motor is weak... Bad brushes ( worn/sticky in the guides or damaged springs) or dirty commutator on the motor itself. I would take the plug out and spin the flywheel to feel for any tightness or rough bearings after that. HTH
