What happened, I bought my current project bike off a local small bike trader he said I would have to apply for a V5 as the previous owners had pretty much given him the bike as it was seized and a bit crashed.

I bought the bike back in july and wasn't in any rush to get it taxed or insured or MOTed as it was in no fit state.

Now I am the stage of putting it all back together and want the logbook etc. I have filled the V62 in but am a bit reluctant to send off. What happens if the the previous owners, when contacted, say I stole the bike, or something along those lines? It is not taxed either so should I expect a fine?

Perhaps I should just get a legit frame from ebay as I have seen others recommend.

Thanks in advance.

You can send it off... do you have a receipt of sale?

I've sent off for 5 or 6 V5s now and had no issue.

No I don't. But I have the sellers details if needed.

I think I am worrying unnecessarily but I have spend a lot of money and time on the bike and don't want it to be taken off me.
