Just been doing bits of research here and there for the last few days. Picking up the new bike at the end of next week; looking forward to it. Fingers crossed for good weather as I have to ride my SV from Southampton to Manchester, spend Friday-Monday at home (Manc) then ride the new XJ Manc back to S'oton. Exhaust is loud af and while it is absolutely hilarious i'm hoping it's not too loud and need the baffle Sad

Also going to have to get some heated grips fitted though I'm hoping that won't be an immediate requirement seeing as we're getting towards summer now. I think the front will nee changing soon but the bike will be stored from August until February so if possible, I'll try and get the new tyres fitted after 6 months storage. Bike is a commuter so i'll probably go for pilot road 4/5's front and back. Of course I'll post up some pictures Smile

I'm also looking into a quick-shifter and/or changing to GP shift, at least just to give it a whirl. Quickshifter would get me into trouble as I'd get giddy AF with it. BUT. if anyone has any advice/experience in one please share and I'll have a look into it.

Last thing I thought about doing is a power-commander for a bit more power, but for maybe 10 extra bhp cost would be like £3-400 which is a bit excessive.

Took my latest bike out for work for the first time, before I set off
I moved the brake and clutch levers then reset the mirrors, pumped
the tyres up and checked all the lights.

Swapped the wheels over. Changed front pads. Replaced left caliper.Tarted up the back wheel fixing and holes with shiny tat. Won a shock in seemingly mint condition (3K on it allegedly, it looks new) for stupid cheap money.

Next up is to fix fairings with epoxy putty, sand, flat and wrap the bike, Powdercoat wheels that came off her. New boots on those.

Made a tail tidy for the Triple.

Not paying silly pounds for a flimsy tidy, so made one last week out of ally. Wanted it nice and sturdy so i can hide a tracker / bolt on a camera mount or whatever, in the future if i want to.

Decided to use original components; no plate light, rear light cowling and indicators, and not to cut anything up, just in case i ever want to put all the original bits back on.

Still need to cut some cutouts into some of the brackets, so it's a bit lighter and looks better.

Quite pleased with it, but i can't help thinking it looks a little too stubby on the rear now. The lines don't quite flow as i'd like. Still way better than the original crane arm it comes with though!

I might yet extend the plate out a few inches, or better still, fit a home made no plate light and indicators, and lose the rear light cowling, and replace it with a home made one. Out of fibreglass or something.

Here are the components, after being cut and drilled.

Here they are all put together.

Started the big spring clean...

https://i.postimg.cc/4NQ2XY87/IMG-0887.jpg

I was sorely tempted to whack a headlight and indicators on it like this - make a cracking roadster

https://i.postimg.cc/y86Qx75f/IMG-0905.jpg

https://i.postimg.cc/L8yyZrFm/IMG-0906.jpg

All hunky dory. However, when I took the tank off, I was confronted by something ghastly - I'll be reporting on that later, once I've uploaded the video Shocked

And yes, that's an electric toothbrush you can see on the ground! Very Happy

Yesterday, rode the SV from Southampton to Manchester; it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting it to be. A little chilly to start with (left at 7am) but had a couple breaks at Cherwell Valley and Keele services.

Today I pick up the XJ6N; will post pictures, naturally Smile

Gentlemen, I have trouble putting my ear plugs in and then getting my helmet on without messing them up/pulling them out. Does anyone have any great ideas for this? I’m using moldex spark plugs super soft earbuds from amazon, but am open to changing in order to get a better seal

You're not sticking them in far enough. I use these.

https://www.macksearplugs.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Ear-Ammo-Soft-Foam-Ear-Plugs-For-Men-7-Pair-600x600.jpg

And I roll and then ram them right in there so far I need fingernails or tweezers to get them out again. If I don't then
tbh on my bike I might as well not wear any, it's pretty loud. It's a peculiar sensation feeling them "re inflate" in your
ears but when they do they swell up and fit snugly inside your earhole.

How to earplug

Silicone earplugs. Vastly superior to foam. Foam cause me issues (I wear them in work for 9+ hours a day).

Silicone make all problems go away. Just remember to wash them when needed.

Had the rack on my new Inazuma 250 replaced and new front pads.

The pads were not badly worn but they were HH pads which I don't like, I had some standard pads put on.

The Bike came fitted with a Kappa Rack wasn't installed properly, who ever fitted it didn't fit the 5TH bolt which ment the rack was not very sturdy.

SO I bought a new one and had it fitted properly, you need to drill a hole in the tail section for the bolt to go through. (see image) this bolt makes the rack solid as a rock.

Need to figure out how to dismatle this can (it has no rivets). Then I have NoS replacment seals and badges.

Front end off gixxer to replace fork springs and oil with slightly stiffer.

Decided to re-grease head bearings given was down this far anyway.

Haven't finished, only got so far as pulling apart.

Trolley jack isn't supporting the bike, just belt n braces.

Soldered the second headlight wire which had been cut by a previous owner. Don't know why it was done but looked a deliberate cut to me (almost at the connector and clean).

Maybe it was someone who likes to ride on main beam all the time in the day (I hate that) but was fed up of being flashed for dazzling the crap out of everyone?

I also sanded my headlight lenses to get the scratches out. Took for fekkin eva!
