Got mine ready for Cadwell next weekend. Took the mirrors and reg plate back off, gave the crusty bits a good clean, checked the static sag. Needs better front springs but that will have to wait as it’s a shop job timing up the rebound damping adjusters after taking the caps off the damper rods.

Fork oil helped a lot, but still having problems with notchy suspension travel, the scraping on the top cap adds more to the mystery...

Never seen it before. There should be a sort of flat washer just below the fork cap, to stop the spring coming into contact with the fork cap. Is it present?

It's Yamaha part number 9020110321

Yeah I cant really understand it either, forks had the washer in, all assembled correctly.

Its not really something you can cross thread and put it in on a angle..

I wonder if someone forgot the washer in the past, but still quite hard to imagine how those parts are contacting. I think I will split the forks completely and check the stanchions are straight to be sure...

Filled a bike full of fuel. Ridden it. Put in back in garage feeling content.

(Edited to say I then tried adding a photo of the bike to this post. Failed!)

I rode it home in a cardy.*
A nice turquoise one.
With three quarter sleeves.

Well I do work in Chelsea, after all Laughing

*i.e., with no jacket on. I left it hanging on the door of my office, it seemed too nice an evening to wear that smelly old Courier Systems thing. Ancient it is, and smells of musty old bikers.

I only suffered some cracked ribs when I last rode without a jacket. Then, in an almost identical accident when wearing a jacket, I suffered the same. Now I only ride in my underpants when it's hot*.

*One part of this statement isn't true.

Fork seals on the work rat. Corroded in properly. Utter bastard, but eventually done.
Tidied up wiring behind light, which was done in haste, outside Co-part, after getting pikied.

Chain on the Viffer, sprockets are recent.

I've locked it up for the weekend.

I was gonna ride it over to the AMOC thing in Caterham but I can't be arsed with bumping into people I know, the awkwardness of unasked questions or being ignored, so I guess I'll stay here and get wankered off me face.

If I knew someone who was going and I could get smashed whilst there, crash out in their tent and snore the house down, I might have gone, LOL But that was 10 years ago or more. Practically none of my old rally muckers even ride bikes any more.

I think its time I gave up hanging out with those kind of people anyway, and just went back to being me: old woman who rides bike. No matter what sort of bike.

Plus, have to stay sober to ride home again. So, pointless really.

Alright. I unlocked it.
Briefly.

To ride thru the Limehouse and Rotherhithe tunnels.
Took a stroll into the ULEZ zone and had coffee and Italian family dramas at Fuckoffee.
And rode back home over Tower Bridge (tourist central).

Just a bit of a pose about town in me embroidery cheesecloth shirtsleeves. Jacket, schmacket.
Bad hellkat.

If I was a cool hellkat, I would pull my finger out and get it ULEZ'd so that I could ride up and park right outside Fuckoffee and be incredibly Instagrammable ... but I'm a lazy cunt so I haven't got round to it yet.

Nothing, but had a thought about the Kawasaki's repeatedly leaking fork seals. (I know, I haven't done anything about it for weeks.) Seals and bushes are new and OE, and the stanchions have been checked for straightness and hard chromed so, what if the seal isn't sealing around the fork lowers? That's the only part I didn't think about and, from memory, there was a little bit of furry corrosion on the seal seats. I'll try to get the forks apart again next weekend.

Nail in rear tire. Plugged with rubber string in lunchbreak. Rear had a slow leak anyway, gives me a good excuse to get it off and check it. Road 5 and has plenty of tread left.

Having replaced two inlet shims on the FJ1200 and sorting the fuel gauge that had a bad connection and was not deflecting on switch on of the key,I bolted the fairing back into place, rode to the fuel station and then to Brands Hatch to watch some friends strut their stuff at a GP circuit trackday.

Caliper refurb with new seals, sliding pins. Cleaned pistons, not too bad just a bit crusty on the edges. Swapped warped rotor from disklock incident last year, even though I'd bent it back to 'straight' it still felt wibly-wobly.

Just got to bed new pads in, and bleed overnight with lever clamped to bar, but it feels smoother already Smile
