I used the CBR almost daily until the global detention scheme was unveiled.

The nine months of imprisonment has reduced my fuel costs, and mileage by over half. I've used the RC8 more than the CBR, and only done 1/3 more miles in the car vs the RC8. I estimate that's also 200 hours commuting time in my pocket.

Since fitting the K-tech springs in the CBR I've done 500 miles, which is a shame as that mod will easily shave 3 seconds off the commute Laughing

I think when things return to "normality" I'll be commuting to the office 2-3 days per week, maybe that's a nice balance of getting lap time practice and cost.

Oil and Filter on the Viffer. She's getting old, just passed 118K miles.

I notice there's a distinct difference before/after an oil change, so I change it after 4K. Oil is cheaper than a motor.

Also put some NOS brackets on as she's been over on both sides at least once and the OEM brackets are wimpy, and panel gaps are crazy. RHS is sorted, but it looks like the LHS has part of the upper frame bent as well.

Ah well not strictly started today but did strip these bits off today for rework and replating.

I needed to do the fork seals as they were leaking, so resprayed the lower fork housing, while they were off.

Then thought the lower yoke looks a bit shitty, so off came that..

then thought if I do those bits I might as well do the handlebars as well... yep you know...

EDIT: Shit...All that effort to list them in order, as that's how the preview shows it then...it actually posts them in reverse order !! Least I'll know for next time.

Yeah so Suzuki slapped Brembo calipers on this bike, but cheaped out on a 3/4in Nissin master cylinder. The calipers are actually designed for a 19mm master cylinder which is fraaaaaaaaactionally different from 3/4in, and apparently that makes a big difference. I'm also going to put HH pads in, although I probably should have gone for Brembo rather than EBC... still, never mind.

Another bit of the fender holdy-on girder thing has broken off, where it snapped when I tried to ride off a month or two ago, outside The Great Harry with the chain still on Rolling Eyes

So now I have another piece, with a reflective bit on it, and a biggish bolt but no nut, which must have wiggled off. But the fender is still bolted in place with the seat.

And the shocks seem okay, I was a bit worried about hardtailing myself on the way back home but I've managed to get it back without incident but I think I might have to pop into the chaps in Forest Gate before I go much further, just to get it looked at. Shocked

Thank the lord harry for Morphs small hands fitting between the wheel and mudguard.

Indeed.
The fender has been off a couple of times again since then, but yes, it does seem firmly kept in place with a sturdy bolt. Although, as the bolt to the girder has lots its nut, I expect I should really check to make sure the fender one is firmly attached as well. Never hurts to check!

Apparently, the seat is leaking (water), so I was told this morning as I sat on it to come home. Its been covered up since Friday with one of those cheapo rain covers, but I guess the rain has finally started getting in. Time will tell, if the next few rides produce an unpredicted wet arse, I shall know I need a new seat.

Seats are crap in the rain. A decent cover is a must if the bike sits outside.

Stick a pick up of the back mudguard if you can, give us a look to suss out what needs done. Can't quite figure out what you managed to do ? lol.

XR250R failed MOT on wheel bearings + swingarm collars/bearings
I was surprised they were not an advisory given the tiny movement, but my fault for not checking them.

https://i.imgur.com/OXKres7.jpg

Didn't have an appropriate size puller for one bearing, so stole idea off internet. Using an anchor bolt to achieve same thing.

Rust unlikely to be an issue Smile

https://i.imgur.com/N9xhBiz.jpg

With a little help from trusty Crème brûlée torch, managed to press out and in bearings + seals.

https://i.imgur.com/XskTO9L.jpg

Turned attention on shock. Given it was out, figured a clean + new oil would be a good idea.

https://i.imgur.com/YDneLn9.jpg

All of this came out from inside between shock head + cap

https://i.imgur.com/bXdIE35.jpg

Drainpipe + Ribena lid made a decent driver + protector

Shiny

Did manage to blast myself in the face with shock fluid twice. Rolling Eyes

Back together with a new bump stop

https://i.imgur.com/HylBGEr.jpg

Cleaned up rear caliper a bit

https://i.imgur.com/y8xJebp.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/JakcxVB.jpg

And the rest as I went, must have saved a kilo in sludge, but used 2 litres of WD40

https://i.imgur.com/975t7B0.jpg

Doh! Rolling Eyes Barely touched it with socket, so figured I must have broken it earlier somehow. Luckily it was so loose, could just unwind it once disc removed.

Parts replaced

Passed MOT this time

Nice work Thumbs Up

It was a nice day so I decided to take the bike out for an airing. It's been quite a while apparently, battery didn't have enough to start Shocked Luckily a tickle with my Li-Ion jump pack did the trick and a tear up and down the A316 should suffice for charging Smile

Cool.
Did you finish it with an intrepid wobble over the Chiswick Flyover?

Oh bugger Sad I went over Kew Bridge and in the west side of Chiswick High Road. I went back that way but of course the rollercoaster ride is only one way Crying or Very sad

I'm not sure I've ever been over it on the bike, plenty of times in the car but that doesn't count Smile

I think I have a flyover fetish Shocked
I think its the "zooming" aspect.

Although there's not a lot of zooming to be had on bloody Chiswick Flyover Rolling Eyes Laughing

My favourite one is Canning Town, which is really close to home. Going either way gives me a vicarious little thrill of : "I'm off on another adventure!" or "Yay, on the home strait now".

But, further down the road, my nightmare flyover is the one at Dagenham with the blue lights underneath. There is no barrier AND a bend on the fucking road. Every single time I go on there I get nervy that someone is just going to go powering into me from the other direction. Even being on the inside doesn't really help.

I quite like the one that takes you up to the A40 from Shepherds Bush Roundabout. Don't know why.

Oh wait, Thinking ... and underpasses. Hyde Park Corner, under or over the top, its all about playtime! Laughing

I rode it to see Rambo (I think that's what they call him) who reckons he can tit about with the mudguard* bracket and get it back to shipshape.

Just got to find the other bit of the bracket and take it back to him.
Meantime, no overly intrepid rides out.
Maybe to work and back, if I go... Shifty

Fitted 30mm longer shocks
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50735520408_c87e8ff5d8_h.jpg

Plan was to also fit the ali mudguard to the rear during the Christmas period, however that required fetching my angle grinder from Wales which is now closed Rolling Eyes

Is that drum actuator going through the sprocket? WTF?

Removed the Lithium batteries from the bikes as they don't like the cold in the shed.
Put the TLR on paddock stands so I can whip the wheels off in the next couple of weeks.
