Collected the machined YR5 heads.

Volume checked them against the standard heads I had been running, both came out at 22cc, however the presence of a proper squish band should help overall efficiency and cooling, it might give a power gain as well but that's not the main goal. One issue is that whoever had tuned them previously had taken so much metal off the sealing face, when the new dome profile of sufficient size was cut the plug was poking into the chamber by a good thread or two, so I've had to install copper washers under the plugs to lift them up a bit. Got it back together yesterday and gave it a 10-15 mile test run, felt nice and crisp, but the main thing was that I couldn't hear any detonation under high loads / high RPM which was the main point of the exercise! Plan is to get it back on the Dyno in the next 4-6 weeks to see where we are and if there's any improvements available via dicking around with the ignition curve.

Also, never filtered through Blackfriars with the big bicycle lane before, either.
Fuck that for a game of soldiers, might have to go back sarf of the River.
But I somehow managed to give it large. Bit like riding a bicycle, this uber-filtering malarkey. You don't forget it.

I just got much more done than I expected, on my project bike.
New carburettors (Mikuni round slide type, believed to be VM28, non-standard for the bike) fitted. New intake rubbers fitted. 1-into-2 throttle cable half-made using a Venhill kit. Split fuel line all set up. It works! I think it's even roughly in the right sort of jetting zone (tested without airbox, because I don't have an airbox and this basic old twin is getting cheapo pod filters). I'm going with pods because I have a LOT of spare pilots and mains, and a Colourtune. I even made a little joiner between the carbs using a piece of M6 threaded rod (original plan was to rig up something to suspend the weight of the carbs from the frame top tube. That's enough for today.

Finally got round to ringing the garage in Greenwich about my GSX750 and he reckons that at some point (whilst its been sitting in his garage for the last six months) they actually managed to get it started.

He's got some handlebars for it, but there is no sign of a ?points cover so far, although I wonder whether it only has surface scratch damage anyway.

If they can get it back on the road: clean the carbs, put it through an MOT, and I will worry about what other damage is still outstanding
(I think its negligible really, or possibly just cosmetic/a sign of my impatience) - I shall be a happy little fluffy bunny.

I seriously want to get that bike back on the road. I didnt ride it all the way back from Milan for it to just sit on its arse gathering dust!

Posing about the place on the Harley is all very well but it will be nice to have a second choice of riding implement (although yeah, probably another frickin ULEZ rip-off charge to be able to ride that through town as well )

Replaced all the coolant seals between the V on a Deauville as well as a single coolant hose, the others aren't available.
Also repaired the alarm so it now works.

After many heat cycles I managed to undo this rounded off bolt with a extractor socket. Now its undone some, its undone from its threaded part of the swingarm. Its stuck in its sleeve, the bolt/sleeve has become one and turns freely. Ive heated it up a few times and gone after it with a punch and still no luck of pushing it out. It seems the rustweld between the sleeve and the bolt is stronger than I can push out. Any ideas? Otherwise it will go t o the shop with a press I guess.

Hacksaw the bolt to get the swingarm off, then you have better access to hit it out without damaging it. I had the same thing on a chinese rear wheel spindle, the sprocket carrier spacer was rusted solid, cut the bolt then easy to knock the remains out.

Stopped at a pharmacy in Beauchamp Place to see if I could boss people about a bit (I couldn't) ... they had nice hand gel though: I can still smell it on my hands now. Perfumed. Posh.

Mighta lost me temper, somewhere further down the road ... erm, later on.
Also: I need to stop with the "flirty eye contact and then ignoring them" thing.

I mentioned in "Show & Tell" that I'd replaced my OEM levers. The replacements were meant to be gunmetal coloured but they had a slight blue hue to them Well, buy cheap buy twice Replaced them with some much better quality black ones and I'd have to say I was surprised at how much better they feel! Never neglect your basic ergonomics.

Checked the tyres, a bit down on air. Saved myself 50p going to the garage and found my stirrup pump sufficient Cleaned and oiled the chain. Chain guard seems a bit loose... strange, I can see from the fastenings it's actually designed to be like that

Today I did mostly:

* Pootle along the Embankment, with one hand on my leg, because 20mph, so ... posing cruising.
* Purposely get in the way of a bright yellow [Lambo/Maserati/can't-remember] most of the way down the Mall.
* Ducked and dived at Hyde Park Corner again. Nearly got forced into the Park Lane turn but nipped in a bit bold at the last minute to go Knightsbridge and instantly regretted it! Underpass gridlock

* Decided not to infuriate myself on Lower Thames Street and Blackfriars on the way home.
* Cut past the Royal Courts of Justice, to Fleet Street ...
* Get a bit lost in the Square Mile.
(Trying to remember how to avoid Bank junction. FFS, its been nearly three years since I was there!)
* Thought about stopping at the yuppy motorbike gaff in Shoreditch, but decided against it (again). I really must go there one day.
* Went round an annoying diversion from Columbia Road to Bethnal Green Road but found a nice little enclave of shops I haven't previously investigated.

Importantly: Did not get cross with anybody or anything.

I are a happy little commuter.

Coolant drop, flush, and refilled with Prestone. Scrubbed out gunky coolant bottle while at it.
De-shitted undertray to prep for subframe removal. Lots of cack dropping which then lead to lots of shit on the chain, so wire brushed chain, cleaned, relubed with 80w90, then tensioned it, mainly to stop the eccentric siezing up from lack of use.

Made up a bracket to fit an ignition map switch to my YR5.

The Zeeltronic supports two seperate ignition curves, switched by simply grounding one of the function wires from the unit. I've had one rigged up before but since putting proper handlebars on there simply isn't room for one on the bars if a mirror / GoPro is fitted. With the new heads on and working well and the porting / pipes been well proven it's time to go back on the Dyno to check setup and see if any more lovely BHP can be extracted. Obviously it would be nice to be able to have two maps and test them back to back without having to plug the laptop in between every run hence the map switch. Also If I end up with a "safe" map suitable for modern piss fuel then it would be nice to change it on the fly.

Map 1 is the one i've been running for over a year, map 2 is the preliminary "safe" option with about 3 degrees less advance over the full range. I'll try it on the road to see if I can feel any difference for teh lulz between the two. There is a possibility it could make more power with less advance, the physics of which are beyond me....

Joined just. I don't know where to start, so I decided on this topic. A few years ago I was forced to give up my beloved hobby which was downhill and generally fast cycling [my knees refused to obey during one of the downhill runs on Cannock Chase] I decided to change the bike for another two wheels , my partner was mad at me for 2 years - Motorbike? Are you f^>"n6 mad !! Whatever now. In the last two days I changed the rear tire, brake pads, breaks fluid , engine oil , spark plug . I renewed the outer shell of the whole engine, the paint that was covered the engine started to peel off and crack after 4 years of riding wired . I used high-heat resistant paint for BBQ
Effect is awesome whole unit in black matt. In the morning I decided to go for a 2-hour ride - check the paint heat resistant for the bbq Now I will ask the main question. While riding , after 20 minutes, the engine began to lose power. Gear change and when I twist the throttle to accelerate quickly (in any gear) I hear the engine sound increasing in pitch by a lot more than I'm used to hearing, but the motorcycle doesn't seem to respond and performance is very poor, full throttle after gear change and just sound like engine stopped on the highest torque. I was forced to back home. Are any of you , experienced riders can help me with your advice? I am afraid that this is a clutch failure, but at the same time I know that the air filter has not been replaced since 2016. Thank you very much for your help Mart
