Just finished the last exhaust system bake-on, 30 mins. Paint still on. After lunch when it is cool, a nice brisk ride over to the 'H' at Berinsfield to test the fruits of my endeavours (and of course a coffee along with the other wellards)

PS the stains under the bike are from condensation dripping from the small holes at the lowest parts of the pipes.

Just got back from the 'H'. Pleased to report that Wilko's finest Stove & BBQ paint is still firmly baked on the headers, right up to the cylinder head. And that is after an 80mph (indicated, officer) blast back on the main road. Also the Rustoleum silver is still intact on the silencers, though they are barely warm near the ends and I can hold them nearly up to where they are welded on to the header pipes.
Time will tell if it will all stay on......

Fit my Akra Slip on. Delivered this morning to the office, rushed home and fit it during lunch time. Managed to get it on in about 25 minutes including removing the exup cables & old exhaust.

After I got home I made sure it was all torqued up and everything's been triple checked. Build quality on Akra is amazing, and I've had multiple exhausts on previous bikes but I'll now forever be an Akra fanboy.

I was amazed at how it sounds too just for a slip on (no baffle, won't be fitting that unless I have to). It's got this punchy bass note when it idles.

Also won't be getting that full race system anymore... I think a full system would be far too loud.

Took mine out for a ride Whistle Wife was at work and it was a lovely day. Thumbs Up

Then I decided to clean and tidy the garage so I could actually do some work in there.

Guess what, after removing loads of crap I found two motorcycles that have been hiding Laughing . I now have room to work on my bike(s) and I found one of my multimeters I had lost so now I have 5 including my fluke clamp meter. Embarassed (I like multimeters).

Tomorrow I think I will try and start Penelope Pitstop (the Fazer). It's not been run in over a year. Battery is goosed and might have to squirt some cleaner through the carbs but she has never let me down yet. Thumbs Up

Photos of nice tidy garage below Dance!

Adjustment to muffs. When new, I cut a mounting hole and made these bar ends, worked great. 20,000 miles later the neoprene is worn out and they fall off the end. So today I have used some vinyl offcuts to make a new mounting hole.

https://i1133.photobucket.com/albums/m593/Kramdra/IMG_20170208_005344_zps3jxuccqj.jpg~original

This covers half of the previous bodge. As they no longer kept shape and would press on levers, I gave them a fiberglass-epoxy spine, which looked like shit. I will cover the rest tomorrow.

Fitted a nice new pair of mirrors which my lad bought for me. I was going to go for some cheapos from the bay of E, but all the ones I checked on were flat glass and deffo not in the style of my custom machine.
These were from Motorcycle Products, a company which has quite a good selection of decent parts. The mirrors are good quality, and e-marked, and nice convex glasses, which I am used to.

PS the exhaust paint is still on.....lol......

PPS the mirror risers/extensions are necessary as I replaced the custom bars but may refit them later so kept the same mirror type.

Put a new front tyre on the ZX6.

Decided it was time to move away from the 2CTs try something different. Went for a Pilot Power 3 instead, not much of a departure because it still says 2CT on the side.

Decent reviews and supposed to last 20% longer than a 2CT plus have better wet grip. Will see how it goes.

Put the 50cc into the potting shed (sort of a cold frame lean to on the edge of my house) and put the battery on charge.

It's out of sight, behind two locked gates, about 17 years ago when we layed the garden out we put in a double wide gate to get the turn into the garden from a side passage, not many bikes fit the passageway but this one does. Thumbs Up

After just getting a new chain and sprocket I thought I would try give it the best chance of life with me by fitting a scottoiler to the FZ.

Took about 1 hour to get done and most of that was me um'ing and ah'ing about how/where to run the pipes.

Now its time to see how much oil gets flinged around tomorrow Smile

Replaced a knackered thermostatic switch:

Put cleaned carbs back on the bike (with new air+petrol pipes), re-attached choke cables and throttle cables.
New spark plugs.

Was ready to try and start my bike, but found the aux fuel tank leaking. So have (hopefully) put that right and will have a crack next weekend.

Stripped down the Exup filler cap to clean the internals, enlarge the breathing capacity and to rid the tank of the whistling noise that emanates from the filler when the fuel expands

Of course I will not know if this has worked until I bolt it back on again Rolling Eyes

Getting the 50cc ready for MOT. SORN'd it, rode it round my back yard.

Run it in on the stand, tested battery with a load, and whilst charging., all good. Think everything sorted, except for low beam, and not for the first time in my life I've failed to work out how to remove a bike's headlamp bulb (without breaking something anyway) Rolling Eyes

Will probably book it in for MOT tomorrow.

Took the front sprocket cover, more chain guard than cover, off of the Beta and scraped all of the mud out. I really ought to have done this a week or so ago, but I was lazy. Hoped it would be all dried and fall out, it was wet and squidgy and I had to scrape it out with a blade and give extra lubrication to the rusty looking chain - shameful laziness really, but I was feeling really ill with a chest infection for a while.

Passed with one advisory which is lower suspension linkage has slight play.

Plus worn chain and no high beam.
Suppose you remembered to hand in the temporary reflector for the rear? You're welcome Thumbs Up

Slowing down in your old age, less miles this year.

Fitted a box of bits.

https://scontent.flhr4-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/16684335_10155044740218436_3119364443342954658_n.jpg?oh=e5586af8fe038146eaf187ab25ae0cd6&oe=593F3FF7

Then a nice 80 mile ride about to get back into the swing of things, the bike rides much nicer with a bit less pressure in the tyres, 34/38 is more to my liking than 36/42.

No ratings, dissapoint. Interesting that you had rear bearing fail and it was an advisory Laughing
