Today I mostly discovered that a vacuum pump makes brake bleeding so much easier! Front caliper pistons no longer so stuck and I have a new favourite time saving tool.

Fitted a charger adapter with built in voltage indicator. So I can see when it's about to run out of electricity again.

Fitted a new front tyre to replace the ridiculously oversize one fitted by the PO. I know, I know, I should have fitted the correct size when I first got the bike and did a strip and rebuild. But I didn't. So whenever I removed and refitted the front wheel (well, only twice in the time it has been back on the road) and struggled having to remove the mudguard bolts, which the oversize tyre wouldn't clear, I only had myself to blame.

Time 1300 today - been for a spin. Impressed with the new (correct size) front tyre. Bike feels way more responsive esp in and out of roundabouts. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Found out this evening why the Exup1000 would only run on three and a half cylinders....sometimes Shocked

https://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv23/WiNot_Rhencullen/Workshop/20170328_172153_zpseact5m53.jpg

Never had this problem with NGK plugs before Evil or Very Mad

(The corrosion on #3 plug is because rain water does not escape when the bike is left on the sidestand after a wet rideout)

These are an ideal tool and I found very useful when bleeding the clutch slave cylinder on my car.

This is the jobby, makes it a breeze.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000RO612A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Hook up bottle and vacuum pump to bleed nipple, few squeezes to create the vacuum, and crack the bleed valve VERY slightly open. Watch fluid level in reservoir carefully to ensure it doesn't run out and wait for air to stop.

Bit of an issue with air bleeding through the bleed valve thread but a bit of PTFE tape sorted that. Much easier than pump/bleed/repeat.

Definitely genuine NGK and not fakes? There have been a lot of rip off plugs out there recently.

I took the gsxr out and then had a couple of test rides;

bmw s1000r sport first:
https://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh163/adam673673/Mobile%20Uploads/20170329_115901_zpsdpp32l9l.jpg

yamaha mt-10 second:
https://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh163/adam673673/Mobile%20Uploads/20170329_140843_zpszcnisrzc.jpg

took both out for over an hour on a mix of roads. when it came to getting back on the gsxr I suddenly realised how small, narrow and generally cramp and raw it felt, which after nearly 4 hours of riding already, the journey home was horrible.

https://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh163/adam673673/20170310_165402_zpshjuljvlp.jpg

bmw pros;
those brembos.
comfy position.
heated grips.
engine felt good but it had only done 200 miles so the rev limiter was set at 9k, which got hit a few times.

cons;
didn't actually like the engine noise, the akrapovic can burbles nicely but felt disappointed.
indicator switch doesn't make a positive click when canceled.
Didn't gel with the quick shifter, never felt seemless

yamaha pros;
cheaper
I prefer the looks
handled just as well, if not better
felt more excited from the engine characteristics.
quick shifter was perfect

cons;
seat height. I'm a short arse. I can flat foot the gsxr both sides but I was on the end of my toes on this. it did have the 'comfort' seat so may have made a slight difference.
unsure I liked the twin type feel at times.
felt like I had to study the dash each time I wanted to check something

I have now decided that it's time I do actually sell the gsxr.

I may have decided to keep the speed triple, neither bike is worth the 8 and 12k extra cost on what I paid for the triple.

I should try the triple and the gsxr back to back really.

Hi

Replaced the connector under the seat for the rear lights and indicators on the Bimota. After a couple of decades of getting covered in water it was wrecked. Superseal connector used so will hopefully cope with the environment it lives in

All the best

Katy

I've also heard a lot about this in the last 4 years or so. General consensus is to avoid ebay really. Buy through a fairly reputable distributor (wemoto, bikebitz, jjraceandrally etc etc.)

I bought my recent pair for the VTR from sparkplugs.co.uk.

Yesterday, fitted a new front tyre, if anyone sees me heading towards my bike clutching tyre levers they can kill me on the spot. Actually it wasn't that bad and the skinflint in me doesn't want to pay the ridiculous fitting fees places charge around here.

I have a couple of those waiting to go on the Baghira - just making the brackets for them

Out of the box they have a torch-like cycle of full power/half power/ strobe/off - easy to modify on the circuit board to just be full power/off.

Shout if you need the details

Fitted Manual Cam-Chain Tensioners to the VTR.

Pretty chuffed I bothered as the front bank tensioner had been butchered to be some sort of precarious manual style jobby. I promptly threw it into some hard slate slabs that make up my garden patio just to ensure nobody had to deal with it existing.

Following that, went for a spirited blast over the peaks.

https://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh163/adam673673/Mobile%20Uploads/20170331_172326_zpsjhyixpmb.jpg

brushed on some harpic limescale remover and had a coffee. wiped off and finished off with a little polish.

I'm actually stunned at the difference.

I'll remove the belly pan and attack that in the morning and give the rest a scrub before going and getting it dirty.

Yeah mine have just arrived they are weird looking, I'm thinking of attaching to my new engine bars but not sure at the moment. I was going try to link them so they can work as normal beam; however keeping the flashing for the future.

I'll post up how it goes and keep you in mind if I decide to go down the full power on or off. Thank you.
