Removed the exhausts, drained oil, removed the sump, went to put on new gasket and saw this
https://i.imgur.com/VYroFhN.png
Have put it on anyway, but didn't get round to putting the exhaust on and checking if the sump leaks, will find out tomorrow

bought a dynojet kit for the gpz900 as ive not been having much luck with rejetting with keihin jets.. its still epicly lean.
Looked inside the dynojet box and compared the contents to some parts i have as spares.. turns out i already have a spare set of drilled slides and a 4 matching shortened slide springs.. bugger.
Put more cable ties on the thundercat fairing |

Was going to get the 250rr mot'd tomorrow. Turns over but wouldnt fire, couple months since I started her, Im guessing the carbs are full of shit
Instead got the front off the CBR6 to fit new fairing bracket. The original is rusty and probably bent. |

gpz900: started rebuilding carb set #2 in case the play in the linkage on set #1 was causing shite.. whilst everything was off i ran a compression test (with some oil down the bores)
1:120
2:170
3:180
4:180
So it was cylinder 1 after all causing the low speed running and popping issues following that i tested the piston heights against each other and piston 1 is 3mm or so lower than the others. I'm guessing a bit of hydro lock was involved under previous ownership ultimately one or more of the rods are bent
Thundercat: Put the fairing on properly and removed the cable ties that were holding it all together. It looks half decent now.. from a distance |

Replaced front pads, as one stupid pad was near to the metal, the others still had a fair bit left No seized pistons Now have "throw you over the handlebars" brakes again
Bought rears today too, will get around to them soon.

On Monday I got some nearly new Michelin PR4s fitted for £100 at Russ Tyres in Portsmouth.
On Tuesday I serviced the front brake caliper and changed the pads, then failed to dismantle the leaky forks for a rebuild and ordered some new long reach allen head sockets off amazon that aren't made of cheese.
Yesterday I started myself off easy changing the oil and filter then attempted a job that I've always avoided; checking and adjusting valve clearances.
First of all doing this on the Honda Bros 400 involves removing the tank, carbs and partially removing the radiator. Then it's still a mission to remove the front rocker cover. But aside from all of that I somehow managed to monumentally screw it up and now my bike sounds like a tractor.
After some research I think it's because I only used the marks on the flywheel to get the engine in the right position. I should have also checked where the piston was in its stroke. Hopefully I haven't completely buggered my engine; I should have to some time to try again tomorrow.

Fitted a new front brake light switch, yesterday.
Today got a fresh MOT, with no advisories, for my 35 year old, built from a box of bits, Honda XL125.

Good job! Not sure I'd be brave enough to try that...
The Honda Bros 400 now has valve clearances that are correct. I'm quite pleased with myself.
Although now I've ridden it, I might have to get some more Brembo sintered pads for it. The EBC normal ones are a bit rubbish. Maybe they just need wearing in though.
Also ordered myself some nasty chinese pod filters. The rubbers that connect the airbox to the carbs have completely had it, and I can't seem to source new ones. ____________________ Riding: Does an Audi estate count?
