Washed and hosed down bike. Came up surprisingly nice. ACF50 applied liberally. Chain oiler seems to be working, rollers and outside plates in nice condition, even after several days of riding through shit weather. Inside plates are a bit rusty looking though Evil or Very Mad

Anyone use dual feed chain oilers? Do they help with this?

Went to see if either bike would start. I haven't ridden one since August and the other (which seems to have some electrical gremlins) has been sat for three weeks. Both started first time on the button with absolutely no swearing involved.

I'm actually going to take them out for a spin at the weekend if it isn't a) pissing it down or b) sub zero temperatures

Wouldn't worry about it. It's purely superficial.

So long as you have no stiff links.

The important part of the chain is everything that's inbetween the outer plates.

Fitted engine bars and applied copperslip to every bolt I undid

Oh and the copperslip is now a family heirloom as halfords only had 500ml tubs in so I think I'll be handing this tub onto my grandkids Very Happy Very Happy

Subliminal. Question

If wheezybiker is purposely copying me then they are a twart and I am deeply disappointed in them...deeply.

Well they do say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

Plus I see no copyright on the statement so I am free to use it

Obviously I wouldn't want to deeply disappoint anyone so I wasn't purposely copying I just thought it was a funny thing to say

Changed the clutch cable... Was pretty easy, so I've obvs done it wrong somewhere

Found front sprocket wriggling on shaft, just about held on by tab washer Shocked

Broke my own rules and refitted with a splodge of threadlock... Twice now, I've found it loose... Twisted Evil

Cleaned the underside suspension that I've been neglecting for far too long: picture below is with degreaser applied and therefore in a better state than what it was before photo. Somewhat more shiny, for now (barstuard to get to).

Cleaned all calipers, it seems the sliding pins have a habit of not doing their job really quite easily thus causing rubbing. Brings total caliper clean count to 1000,0000.

New front brake pads, cleaned piston, now non-sticky. I've also got a sligtly warped disc - should be "fun" to find a replacement.
Ordered rear shoes.
Re-patched exhaust. I'll have to treat her to a new one after xmas.
Chain tension and lube.
Wiped excessive road shit off, left non-excessive shit on. The Comma oil seems to be working well instead of ACF50, so re-applied in odd spots where needed.

Fitted a fender extenda to the Zed, because the radiator is a bullet magnet.

Un-seized my chain adjuster. Trickle charged it. Fired it up for the first time in about a month and a half. Might actually ride it tonight. Might even use it to get to work tomorrow!

Beta. Despite the 7 and a half minutes at a jetwash yesterday, there was still quite a lot of mud to remove by hand, before I thoroughly cleaned and lubed the chain. Took the front chain guard off and cleaned the gunk out of there with a brush and a rag.

Changed air filter, I have a few old ones lying around that I clean and oil and bag up ready, saves a bit of time, and stops me getting super messy.

Changed gear oil. Topped 2T oil up.

Took radiator guards out, and bash plate off, cleaned by hand, really just checking for damage.

Still took me 2 hours. Embarassed

Threw a load of fcuks at it.

After replacing clutch cable, it was awful. No feel, impossible to find neutral and crappy gear change...

Turns out the heated grip had turned round a bit so the lever would only go half in before hitting the cable... My cheap-ass muffs to blame, I think

Spun it round. Perfick
