I bought one of those too. They abolished tax discs before I got round/could be arsed to fit the bloody thing. Had it sitting on my coffee table for ages before chucking it in the bin. Laughing

Also, finally got my rear brake pedal replaced. Embarassed

I'd love a garage, even a cold one. I rebuilt my last bike in a cold basement car park over winter, it was so nice not having to run for cover when it rained, or having the wind blow things about, or having limited daylight at this time of year.

I lifted up the cover...saw that the battery light was flashing green and lowered the cover.
Opened up the shed..patted the MV on the bottom and shut the door.

Yep, my bikes used to live outside on gravel so if you dropped a screw you'd never find it. I postponed the Kawasaki's renovation until I moved to a house with a powered, lit, white-walled garage. Joy! Since moved again and the garage has no 'leccy. Crying or Very sad

Today I did some simple work on two bikes, removed the pannier rails and cut the mudguard down to size with the dreme ready for the seat measuring. Don't fancy altering the frame on this new bike so going to try and keep it original with a bit of editing.

On the to do list is following;
Sorting out seat
New headlight
Service
Tail light
New number plate bracket
Indicators.
Fork Gaiters

After

https://i.imgur.com/z01GwDq.jpg

Then drilled and fitted the indicators, neatened up the poppy on the tail to "not cause offence" and cable tie the monkey into position after drilling.

Needs less subframe, approximately one foot less subframe. Mr. Green

I hope you're doing useful servicing as well as tarting it up. Laughing

^^^Indeed. Hagon provided me with some firmer springs for the old 250. I also went for some new fork springs. Makes a noticeable difference on an old bike.

Ste I'm trying to do it without changing the subframe. At the moment the idea is a large seat to go onto it in either blue or brown with tail light at the end. Similar to this

https://silodrome.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/BMW-K100-Scrambler-8.jpg

Both bikes have had an all fluid change, air filters checked and spark plugs cleaned. Got a spare tank coming so I can see my project in one colour or another easier to decide that way. I've not done anything major to the red one yet as the red one needs the injectors changing and a new battery. This is the current fuel fail below.

Not nice at all.

https://i.imgur.com/2x2AaMZl.jpg

Doing a shaft change to the black one tomorrow then taking it out for a test ride. Still need to sort out the indicators at the front and fit new fork gaiters.

The plan to get the bike up near the house and dremel some flats onto the weld applied to the exhsut bolts was scuppered by work happening to the path and not being able to wheel it up. Will heat-cycle some more release oil into it, hopefully don't have to resort to bolt extractors.

I managed to clean and lube chain and tighten exhaust patch up before the snow and hail drve me back indoors. A few things I want to do at some point, but not pressing, and will wait until a warmer weekend.

Just simple checks on the CB250, chain, oil, tyres.

My topbox is rattling a tad, there is movement between the box and
baseplate so I've cut some strips of an old inner tube and wrapped it
around an area of the base plate, 3 layers did the job.

Also started up my Suzuki, let it run for a few minutes, checked all the
lights and horn.

Only one problem.... need another inner tube.... lol

Put the 600RR back to road trim so that I can change the oil. It needs a bit of a ride before I drain the old oil out, so I swapped levers, put the indicators and taillight back on, and put the mirrors back on. Ill wait until when the roads are a bit less salty before I change the oil.

My Striple has done 26.5k miles on first set of pads, and looking at the wear, could probably have done another 5 easily.

But don't want to chance it. Had a good innings.

YR5 just about done. Fought me at the finish though. QR coupling on the tank balance pipe leaked, drained tank, fitted spare. Spare leaked, drained tank again, hard piped it. Having to drain the tank to remove it is a pain in the arse so I do need to figure out a solution.

Plugged laptop in to check map settings and also that the shift light on my funky new clock set up worked (turned it down to activate at 3k to test, then back up to 9k as per usual).

https://flic.kr/p/KjyFna

Finally got to have a ride today after solving fuel leak issue. Was pretty clogged up for the first few miles but then cleared ok. Rides well, 6 speed box is much better and the clutch actually lets you find neutral now it doesn't have any bent plates. Having a functioning rev counter pretty much tallies the dyno curve. Nothing below 6k, good power at 7k through to 9. Riding position with clipons is good, not comfortable but then it's not a bike you'll spend much time in the saddle on as it needs lots of fuel stops!

Few jobs to do, gear lever is a bit low and speedo seems to under read so need to find another one.

They have worn nicely and they are still nowhere near to the wear markers. As stated, easily get a few more miles out of them Thumbs Up

The original front pads on my R1 have done 35,250 miles and there is still some life left in them.I have some brand new Ferodo sintered pads waiting to go in Thumbs Up

Shocked Surely because you're wheelying it everywhere, and have used 4 sets of rear pads?

Damnit, now I have a target to reach Smile

I'll keep the originals to one side, in case don't get on with the replacements, which are Goldfren S33. Mainly because the set (x3 calipers) was £36 and I would rather do it now and not be bombing down an alp overthinking if I should have replaced them (even though evidence points to another 6 months riding out of them).

VTR pads will likely last nearly as long since the brakes are rarely used. Pure engine braking. Eats rear tyres like a starved refugee at a Harvester salad bar though.

I have Gold Fren pads front and rear on the FJ1200 and they have now done about 8000 miles, mainly when riding abroad.Last year, thinking that the pads might wear quicker,I took some spare part worn pads with me around France, just to be on the safe side.I need not have bothered though,as the GF pads are not binding in the calipers and the wheels turn quite freely. The wheels on the R1 and FZR-R are the same.

More gunk on Exhaust - Still can't get bike up to get dremel on stuck nuts.
Chain lube and tension.
