Finally managed to get he crud of the worst of the crud encrusted bikes today ..
It's taken 2 washes with Dirt Busters bio-degradeable bike wash, and water spray another day today with parafin to finish off. Then, lube teh cables etc, and finish off with a bit of acf
Anyhow, that's that bike ready until Autumn now, with a bit of luck.

Lost the injector for my scottoiler well I say injector it was actually part of a byro pen and had been feeding used engine oil to my chain for the past 20K which worked just fine.

Sort of want a dual injector but I'm not paying £3 a pair of single nibs and I'm certainly not paying £26.75 for the dual injector. I need another byro. |

EX limit 0.325 to 0.375 and mine were 0.24
IN limit 0.10 to 0.20 and mine were all 0.10.
Cam timing, was out by half a tooth. Not terrible. But I'm happy I did it.
So yes, if Triumph (or whoever) does the first major service and you are sure they've done what they are supposed to. There it does look like the engine could truck on for 10k per 0.01mm of adjustment.
In theory I could leave it until 50k miles now and it might be ok.
BT device, typically Triumph does no appear to stick to standards. Many OBD2 devices don't work.
One that did was LYE Super Mini 1.5 ELM327
This one looks very similar, but I can't confirm it is. |
I went for a cable which I think you need if you want to change maps. I didn't realise the app was a tenner so a cable solution is cheaper, if a bit less practical*. Interesting stuff, I'm fairly certain mine haven't ever been done, the bike (one previous owner) came with a single service receipt for the initial 500 mile oil change
*luckily I've inherited an old webbook for the job, using my widescreen laptop with an extension cord (f**ked battery) was getting a bit tedious |

Removed the rounded screw head holding the fairing on, at long last.
Four pound red tool (from Asda) did the job of cutting a slot into the head nicely. Turns out Oxford locks are useful for something <sarcastic dance>.

.. finally some sun, and spare time today, meant I could remove teh last vestiges of winter from the other bikes, granted mainly the TR, as that's been on a few long runs since January, and was pretty well caked up with road salt & grime.
Still, cleaned up pretty well, and sorry to say, that, despite the bikes being either chinese, or korean, still have't become rust dust!!
The TR, which is pretty much my main workhorse..

The Mash, survived another winter ..

And... The ST7, although used relatively sparingly over winter ..

In fact, they've all cleaned up rather well !! ____________________ Beware what photos you upload, or link to on here, especially if you have family members on them |
