Buggered the rear rack on the Mash .. Perhaps bungy strapping 2x25KG bags of concrete to it didn't help !! Thought I'd get away with it, but hit a couple of bumps on the way home, just to add insult to injury !

Oh well, time to order a new one !

Ordering new chain and sprockets... how exciting Confused
New LED headlight kit too as the Dorso's ability at illuminating the road ahead is shockingly poor.

On the k's you get a lot of vibration in the foot pegs. Now to remove this I was told about a method at the raven on thursday putting a sock over the pegs. So this was done feels like a new bike now in the pegs. Tested it at over 70 and feet still stay connected to the bike.

Someone offered me £20 for putting my little pony on the bike so that is due to be collected.

Depends on the bike, also. After a jaunt on the Suzuki Gladius 650 (a naked) not so long ago I learnt how fast the cold can hit you on roads with 50-60 limits.

Bike had hand guards and, by the owners comment, "poor heated grips." The only part of me that wasn't cold was my hands.

I may convert, if I can get over the loss when the bike moves on without me.

An inner pair of gloves can help, and will still help on your next bike. Might not keep your hands comfortable at below freezing, but you'll still be able to work your fingers at the very least. And anything much warmer than that, your hands will be fine. I got mine at mountain warehouse.

On topic, I scraped the mud out her chain and gave her some real oil, and she remembered how to stay at 60 in fifth gear.

Won't the socks make the pegs slippery when wet? Thinking

Yesterday I discovered why the fuel tap needs to be turned on. Actually made it nearly half a mile down the road with what was in the line before it cut out and I panicked.

Fitted K-tech front sping and cartridge kit. Because bike is heavier than a super tanker.

Fitted Yoshi cans because £38 from ebay.

Removed power commander because it appears to be borked.

Yesterday. Bought it. Rode an hour home in the pishing rain via muddy farm lanes and only found power mode button once home.

Lowered rear sets, attached optimate lead, half a turn of rear pre-load.

Changed the grips and *fitted a universal chain oiler.

https://i.imgur.com/8ZY505H.jpg

*none of it is actually fitted, it's all just propped in place and sticking. I'm expecting the nozzle to get eaten by the chain and the red can to rattle off. The U clamp was too small for the frame so I whacked it on and it hasn't fallen off. I Haven't been anywhere yet though either so we'll see.

Repaired the hole that had formed just before the point where the end can joins the down pipes. Gun gum, bake bean tin and a jubilee clip.

https://preview.ibb.co/mZ25yy/IMG_20180513_173423020.jpg

Replaced the snapped speedo cable, took off handguards as they were putting a lot of strain on the metal bit of the clutch cable.

Lubed clutch cable.

Got all the bits to redo the forks, now to find a couple of spare days to go at it.

Hold yer horses lad....

Waffling recap; So I'd not ridden the duke for months..take it out and by the 3rd junction I notice the change in biting point...Further on and I'm filtering and with clutch pulled in it still wants to pull.

I return home and see a spot of fluid and trace it to the slave. I check torque of the 3 bolts, all good. Fill reservoir to max and head off again to my mate's place 30mins away using clutchless up and sometimes down.

Get there and reservoir is down a bit..cadge some fluid from my friend's motorcycle loving neighbour...ride home using the clutch as normal. Level not changed and not changed since.

I'm taking it out again tonight so fingers crossed.

Thoughts are something wrong with the rubber o-ring that sits in a groove on the clutch rod or the piston in the slave got stuck and fluid pushed by...Anyway as it is currently working I'm going live life on the edge. Smile

Put another end can on it. Seems to work better. Adjusted clutch arm. Chain clean and lube.

Ridden it.

Took the Busa out for the first proper ride since owning it.
Beautiful spring evening, warm sunny Welsh roads and Fret in tow.

Things I have learned on the first shake down run:-

Arrow It's fast.
Arrow Very fast.
Arrow Supidly fucking fast.
Arrow It rides like a late 90's sports bike, not like a sports tourer.
Arrow The brakes are crap, going to try Brembo reds in there.
Arrow Continental tyres are really shit (especially square ones)
Arrow The rear shock is spent, Ohlins to be fitted.

I have never gelled so quickly with a bike, I fucking love it.

I am properly buzzing from the ride, 140 miles of pure fun.

Did I mention it's fast?

If you can give me a little notice next time, I may tag along on the Spacker. I'm over the limit today though. Mr. Green

So I've been tinkering with the brother in laws shed this evening.

Replaced main fuel pipe from tank to carb.

Installed the worlds biggest arsehole of an indicator bulb. (H21w)

Spacered out the can a bit with many washers in a bid to try and miss the numberplate with the exhaust and get it
central again. I can probably nick another 10mm or so so will unbolt and add a few more washers tomorrow.

Fixed a couple of minor exhaust blows on the unions, exhaust feels much more solid.

Dismantling headlamp tomorrow, to swap out bulb with a slightly brighter one, then re mounting the number plate,
renewing front L plate and then it's just the brake pipe to replace and I can book the MOT.
