Pilot Road 5s fitted to the MT09, my recent spat of 2nd gear power wheelies killed off the stupidly soft Bridgestone S20 rear the previous owner had been running.
I'm shit at wheelies for the record, but it's fun that they are so easy to do with this bike. Once I get used to the front coming up I intend to learn with the clutch instead.
While I had the front and rear wheels off I gave the swingarm a good clean and cleaned out the front and rear calipers, copper greased the back of the pads and the slide pins etc.
Gave it a quick around the block to make sure everything was in order and that I hadn't done anything daft.

Replaced the chain, sprockets and rear disc then took it for a little test ride.
Rather shocked how bad the rear brake was, rarely use it much but full on stomping wasn't really doing shit.
Eventually it started gripping and locking up the rear, when I got back all I could smell was brake pads and the paint melting off the edge.

New chain is so much better, there's no knocking or the weird chaffing sound, I don't feel like I'm going to die so soon now. |

Some progress on the 750
Bought some CMA alloy wheels over winter finally knocked the old bearings out and removed the sprocket/discs ready for powder coat tomorrow.
https://i.imgur.com/EwHHmeF.jpg
Had the barrels rebored and the pistons blasted, gapped and fitted new rings (its still original 61mm bore only a thou skim as there was light scouring on the bores).

Then fitted bearings to swing arm (suspension and spindle) taped up the roller bearings for the time being.

Off to acquire a new stainless grease nipple for it tomorrow then refit to the bike, first bit of progress in a while! ____________________ Current: 02 FZS 1000 Some Bike Pics...

Put on replacement rear light to replace the one fucked by spunkbubbles hitting it with a car. Original is fecking mahoosive. Had to crimp up a new 3 pin connector after testing it, as it came with bullets.

This needed to be mounted in a totally different way, so brackets were cobbled together from 1.5mm Alu and painted matt black.

Finished product - a bit on the piss, but so is the rest of the bike. Indicators were properly wired in as well.

Added a spring to the clutch cable. The stock one had it, replacement didn't. With bedded in clutch plates, it shows.

Had a play with the power commander.
The map that was installed was seriously over fuelling the bike. I installed a zero map took it for a spin then a map for yoshis and a filter.
It idles better, no longer chucks out black smoke and seems to pull better.

Bash plate removed, oil and filter changed, air filter cleaned and fixed rotten rubber gasket, rev counter fitted, electrics scoped out for sat nav fitting later. Found the spark plug is an NGK BP5ES, am now wondering why it's not a 6. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Discovered a whopping great hole in the Enfield end can, bodged it with foil, a pineapple tin, and exhaust wrap, and went for a ride.
Got eyed up by a yummy mummy. I mean, the bike. She'd done 6 months in India on one before getting sprogged up. Well, it makes a change from being buttonholed by older chaps reminiscing about their BSAs and Nortons. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Fitted the replacement rear luggage rack to the Mash, after I broke the last 1. Not bad, 1/2 the price of a UK supplied one, even before any postage is added to the UK supplied one. And it arrived a week to the day I ordered it

Shakedown #2- New tyres edition.
Pilot Powers stick like shit to a blanket, the new Power Commander settings are making it pull like a train and use a lot less fuel.
130 mile to 2/3rds of a tank. It did 145 on a full tank last time out.
Also buzzed Fret on a 175mph flyby.
Front suspension needs a gnats more preload and less rebound.
