Changed spark plugs and lubricated clutch cable; followed by a ride.

Returned and thought might as well lubricate the side stand while can be bothered only to find out, lord only knows how much time later, it is single handily the worse decision I've ever made -- and all so the sidestand can make a louder noise and have a smoother action; I wish I'd left it alone.

I did have more things to do but they can wait for a hundred years while I recover from the sidestand episode: I hate spring loaded items.

Not my bike but my gear.

After several rides in 30+ degree heat my boots smelled worse than Bodytards mum after being fingerbanged by a fish gutter down the docks. Also a thick coating of dead flies.

Top marks to Nikwax leather cleaner and restorer.

Good use of swingset. 👍

Strip and clean of front brake calipers, they had started to feel spongey despite have it thousands of miles left on the pads.

Only one of the 4 pots was moving freely. Properly grimed up. Good clean and they are back to normal!

Temporarily replaced the Remus can with the stock Kawasaki item ready for tomorrow's 9:30 MOT. Then the Yamaha gets tested at 11:30. The R1 once wore a second hand oval carbon Akrapovich but it didn't sound much better and the carbon was faded so the bike has the stock can. I looked both bikes over and apart from looking a bit dirty I reckon they'll do.

MOTs at 9:30 and 11:30. ZX6R and R1 passed with no advisories, but the tester only had to sit on the Kawasaki to determine I'd dialled out ALL the rebound. Embarassed It still doesn't feel right though. He commented that the Kawasaki was doing well at 61k miles. My annual mileage is much less than it used to be. Sad

Now, I'm not naturally out-going (although I've got better with age) but bikes are such an ice-breaker that I had interesting conversations with two customers, initially about bikes but then about all sorts of other stuff. I love this about bikes, and bike shops. The nearest parallel I can think of in respect of "ice-breakers" is walking a dog and meeting other owners. I can't have another dog though, it wouldn't be fair to leave it at home all day.

Yesterday I took the MT09 for it's 600 mile service and had the free "sports pack" fitted at the same time, which comprised of a screen and Gilles adjustable levers

I was even given a free bacon roll and a drink while I waited Thumbs Up

Picked it up from Salvage yard. Undid the knuckle dragging fuckwits attempts at hotwiring her. Crimped on some connectors. Taped up hanging indicators. Found the nearest petrol station. Rode her home.

That tyre is squared off and beyond bald, ride it and you might get a nasty painful surprise.

Ha, I've ridden with worse, well not so much the de-lamination but barely any tread, may as well have been a slick, but zero chance of rain, so meh! Wink

It doesn't make you big and it doesn't make you clever.

Rain would likely stop problems developing, it would keep the tyre cool at least.
