At weekend had a day on the Dyno.

YR5 was slightly down on previous peak (possibly down to running rich / slightly blowing head), but we coaxed another few torques out of it. Ended up just over 35 ft/lb torque which is ridiculous for an aircooled twin with a fixed exhaust port. Might do a “wet” map as I think it’ll be a handful on a wet circuit.

GSXR400 went on with bigger mains (to richen it up at the top without the baffle) and dropped needles (to cure the excessive richness under 5k). First try was bang on. 57.2 bhp, 22 ft/lb torque and AFR in tolerance through the rev range. About a 2bhp gain over the airbox but no real trade off in torque or driveability. But the best thing is I’ll never need to wrestle the fucking airbox on and off ever again. Oh and the filters and pipe sound absolutely feral at 15000 rpm....

Put a flap of 6mm rubber over the shock on the viffer, stop it getting coated in shit. This is more in prep for probably getting Maxton to put a decent shock in there.

Tidied up wiring. Put accessories (Voltmeter, USB, camera) on 2 pin connectors and ran a fan of them out to one ring, rather than a stack of ring connectors. Should make connecting batteries much easier.

Chain tension, clean and lube.

Pulled exhaust and carbs off parts bike.

Having been made redundant and sitting on gardening leave I finally got back to the GSXR I tore apart over Christmas.

Today managed too

Drain oil and coolant
Flush out coolant system
Repair the damaged bits of the loom
Harpic cleaned the headers and link pipe
Degunged any gungy bits I came across while doing the above.

If all goes to plan tomorrow will be putting the loom back and connecting it all up, reattaching subframe, new oil in, get it ticking over and refilling coolant, rebuild rear brake calliper, fairings on and then all I need is a front tyre and an MOT.

Chains clean, lube and tension on both bikes.
Replaced rusty screws in Viffers master cylinders with stainless ones.
Rearranged the locks over between bikes to make it less of a faff.

Oil change, shoutout to the dummy who put the last filter on - really enjoyed spending 1 hour to do an oil and filter change instead of 15 minutes Thumbs Up

Lubed chain & bled the clutch on the rsv because finding neutral was becoming a bit of a sod.

I paused to take a picture:

https://i.imgur.com/MhIEFZPh.jpg

I've done lots of miles with lots of vehicles, but this is the first one I've taken over the 100k mark. I bought the CBF1000 with 20k on the clock and added the 80k over the last 6 years. It would have got to 100k sooner, but I tend to give the bike a break over the summer while I ride the cooler CB500.

The bike is still in pretty good shape. The heel plates and heated grips are worn and there's a frame brace hidden behind the radiator that's almost rusted through, but otherwise it cleans up quite nicely.

Another 100k ahead? Meh, I don't know. The mileage effectively makes the bike worthless so I'll probably keep knocking out the miles until something expensive breaks, then move on to something made in the current decade.

Oh - and my new pillion pegs arrived today, so Felicity (my bike) will be chuffed to rocks

Having a right time with the "chap from further corners..." who sold me these on ebay. Turns out they are not rear pegs at all, but front ones.

I asked for a return and explained the issue precisely, but he's being a dick and demanding photo's showing exactly how they won't fit on the rear. Getting a bit pissed off with him.

Took him a while to respond to the return request, yet if I don't respond to his messages within hours, he's complaining at me.

Anyway, I'm guessing he's someone who knows sod-all about bikes or the internet, cos it took me less than 3 minutes to find the Yamaha diagrams online that show the difference between front and rear peg fittings.

Needless to say, I haven't fitted my new pegs yet - but I must admit I'm thinking of keeping them, as my fronts are well worn - just want this twat to describe what he's selling accurately.

Play the game properly. ebay?

Well they will rule in your favour, the onus on the seller to sort out return postage as it's his mistake.
That would likely be too expensive and he'll probably let you keep them for free or ask you to accept them for partial refund.

Ordered new Hyperpro suspension front and rear for the 2008 ER6. Built to order so will take about a month to arrive.
Need to decide if I should fit PD valves when the front end is apart.

Changing wheels to the earlier 90-93 ones. Thought I would change pads while I have the wheel off. Back wheel already on and sorted at this point.

Front right caliper was no problem. Cleaned it up, greased slider, new pads, bosh.

Left? Slider jammed solid. Heat, drill - Nothing moves it. New caliper and rebuild kit. ordered.
