Do you do the thunderbirds theme in your helmet as you're doing it?

I'm still working on a mate whos house is on a steep slope with a terraced garden and as such, has a potting shed under the patio. It would be PERFECTLY possible to have your bike come up out of the ground. I'm sure he could find an old pub cellar lift if he looked hard enough. Grade A theft deterrant too.

I was torn between Fanfare for the Common Man and Also Sprach Zarathustra, but I'm going to have to get some palm trees now.

It must be a theme tune thing.

As soon as I knew my bike was close to being roadworthy, I found myself humming the theme from Indiana Jones.

I always used to find myself singing it when I was riding, and sometimes even as I walked out the front door on the way to work in the morning, I'd start humming it in anticipation of getting on the bike Laughing

It only needs a bit of a twiddle with its starter electrics, and an MOT.

They were both locked up in a garage with a broken locking mechanism, so had to stay there and ended up out of MOT and wasting away.
Still, they're out now!

Today, I took apart the rest of my friend's 60's Jawa 350, getting the parts ready for sale and while taking the rear wheel off, I noticed something that made me question the humanity...

Rubber brake shoes. Has anyone ever seen this before? Confused

Changed the rear pads of the CF650, first time I've done that, usually get my brake pads replaced at a garage, but, this attempt was born out of neccessity, need the bike Tuesday, and, only noticed on Friday just how bad the pads were.. 20 minutes from rolling the bike out of the garage, o having the new pads fitted.

Well, that's mystery over with, will be doing my own brake pad replacement from now on..

Then took it for a spin, to check all was good..

In a way I think certain types of rubber would work for shoes: Not springy rubber and mixed with wood fibre and brass swarf?

Today I took some slack out of my chain. Nothing else needed doing.

i've seen them many times while fruitlessly trying to get a TLS front brake to work.

However, it will be mostly chalk with a little rubber thrown in there. Comnbined with other miscelaneous floor sweepings as and when they became available.

Today I went to fit my recon crank only to find the timing shaft hasn't been ground to match the bearing ID after it was fitted. A 25.00mm inner race isn't going to fit over a 25.50mm steel shaft no matter how much I heat it. Sending it back, they'll need to dismantle it and start again.

Yesterday the chain on my XR250 came off (split link failed).

https://i.imgur.com/Xz5NXrN.jpg

45 minute push home and found another link and put on. But overall the chain has lots of tight links, so will replace.

Today was Striples turn. Coolant, oil + filter, brake clean + new fluid + bleed.

Found paint bubbled and flaking around LHS rad tower.
Didn't do a proper job, but looks a little better.

On the Beta 2T, covered the indicator switch with duct tape.

Covered the front and rear lights with heat resistant tape and then duct tape, and then run the bike with the lights on, and added more duct tape until I couldn't see them.

And covered the wifes bike with spooge Embarassed Laughing

and ordered some stick on reflectors from Amazon

First MOT soon Praying

Did tonnes of stuff today:

First of all I removed the Meta MT357T-V2 alarm from my Buell which had died. Main issue with that was that it died in a state where the bike was immobilised.

https://cdn.bcf.44bytes.net/files/meta_alarm.jpg

I managed to work out which pins to bridge to un-immobilise the bike, and I won't go into detail too much as to what I did exactly, but needless to say the bike now starts!

I then turned attention to my CBR600RR track bike which caught a stone in the radiator a few weeks back.

Removing the old radiator was something of a pig.

https://cdn.bcf.44bytes.net/files/old_rad.jpg

But the paint had come off the sides and it was in something of a state. It's probably overdue a replacement if I'm honest.

While I was at it, I started looking at an oil leak on the clutch cover side. I recently replaced the gasket in order to solve the issue, and there was still a seep. I suspected I just needed to nip up the bolts, which I did today... and then broke one. Luckily I managed to remove the stub using a screwdriver, and replace it with a stainless bolt.

https://cdn.bcf.44bytes.net/files/oil_leak.jpg

I then started preparing the new rad, which is a cheap Chinese pattern copy. Not great quality, but it should do the job.

https://cdn.bcf.44bytes.net/files/new_chinese_rad.jpg

One of the cage nuts that mounted the rad fan was rusted to death.

https://cdn.bcf.44bytes.net/files/cage_nut.jpg

I'll need a replacement one of these before I proceed with fitting the rad.

Here is where it fits onto the rad. I have two, but I need 3.

https://cdn.bcf.44bytes.net/files/cage_nut_2.jpg

Anyone know what they would be called for ordering purposes?

Here's an illustration of how much of a pig the old rad was to remove... My hand (after washing).

Stuck some gear oil in the homebrew chain oiler. There were a couple of drops on the floor after being parked up for a couple of days, and a bit of fling so will see if thicker oil helps.

Looking at mine in a similar state, I wonder if the brake dust that has been channeled into the rad towers and stuck there over a few years has done the damage.

My old man used to park next to a train station and the train brake dust was highly corrosive and destroyed the laquer and paint on his car.

That wasn't the only reason I replaced it. It has a huge dent in the right side, and there is a hole in it just to the right and just below of the centre (in the pic, it's the dented area you can see). It's held in with Radweld.

So it's definitely dead. I just hope the replacement is acceptable and works with the bike... It does seem VERY cheaply made.

Fitted the tail tidy and new seat to the MT-09

https://i.postimg.cc/Jhdy7X0C/20190430-183440.jpg

The rear indicators were the biggest issue. The cables on the standard indicators are too short when mounted on the tail tidy. I contacted an R&G dealer to ask if they had any issues, only to be told they'd sold hundreds of the tail tidies and nobody has reported problems with the indicators.

In the end I grabbed some front indicators from a Tracer as the cable was the correct length.

Successfully fitted the throw-over panniers to my bike. Turns out, I was throwing them over the wrong way (back to front, not upside down - I'm not that thick). Probably should look at the pictures in future, I wrongly assumed the narrower bit would go forwards for aerodynamics but I had a rage moment with indicators clashing and when I tried to straddle it my legs were being interfered with.

Got there in the end . . .

Moar faffing on with the wiring harness behind the headlight cowl. Literally went through every connector, cleaned and checked for connectivity.
Looking like several have corroded pins inside the connector blocks - will need addressing soon. Not that bad a job tbh because the headlight's held on with 4 elastic bands around the forks!
