I've spoken to a mechanic about servicing it for me.
Damn thing's running like a bag of spanners lately, something important must have wobbled off, so I need a Little Man who Does to fettle it for me on a regular basis.

Ridden three hundred miles across the Peninnes. Still smiling!
(I also learned that a BMW M140 is pretty quick away from the lights...)

VFR:-
New chain. Lubed, tensioned etc.
New fuel filter.
Re-crimped rear light wires - PO had "crimped" them with pliers, and someone said they flickered over bumps.
Epoxy putty, drill and M4 tap on upper screen fixings.
Cleaned, polished, waxed. White wheels are a bitch to keep clean.
Most importantly - rode it.

Work Rat:-
Rear drum strip, clean etc.
More exhaust bodgery.
Chain lube and tension.

Ordered a pair of new Brembo Gold series discs from Italy, the standard ones are warped, had them straightened, warped again on the next ride so I am going to see how good they are as Frisbee's Rolling Eyes

Valve shim job just finished (7 of 8 shims replaced). Everything well within spec now. All was going well, then I made a huge cock-up of something and broke something important when putting it all back together. Embarassed Put it right (I hope) started the bike and took it around the block. Seems to be running a bit better, if it's not just my imagination.

MK1 CBF1000 ABS.

Spent three hours in total removing the rear wheel just so that I could get the rear caliper off to clean it up. Was all going well, and making good time, until it came to putting the pad pins, and pads, back in place but everything kept falling around and I couldn't figure out what why was the right way since it was the first time doing it on this bike and they fell out when rear wheel was removed. As an added bonus the pads have metal plates on the back of them that clip round the pad but only hold on loosely, and those kept falling off too.

Why Honda decided to make the caliper swingarm mount bracket the sliding pin also instead of mounting the caliper to the bracket and having a sliding pin bracket in the caliper I'll never know.

Couldn't be arsed to remove exhaust to give me more space. Couldn't be arsed to remove mud-guard to give me more space. Couldn't be arsed to remove the entire rear fender to make it easier to pull the wheel out so left it hanging to one side.

Honda's design team really didn't think this bike through at all. No wonder there was a MK2. Twisted Evil

Might trade it in for a ZRX1200S at this rate. Laughing

I haven't wheelied it.

Carload of what I can only describe as "older chavs", waiting to get onto Tower Bridge Road from Bricklayers.

I pull up just behind the back window and sit patiently, otherwise I'm gonna end up way in the middle of oncoming traffic

So I get the initial glances, back and front.
Glance once, double take.

Then second glance, as per usual. Laughing
Heads craned back and out of the window:
"Aaaoowwww, luv!"
"Alwight, luv! Nice bike."
"Do us a wheelie, luv!"
"G'wan luv!"

I look at them as if to say
"Do you a wheelie?
I've never even wheelied a japper, to order.
I'm certainly not going to start now."

So I gave 'em a Big Rev, instead, and they cheered.
A wheelie! As if!
Dickheads Rolling Eyes Laughing

Even after all the years I've been dispatching, Hyde Park corner is brown trousers time.

Work rat:-
Accepted defeat with exhaust, used fire putty, with firesealant over top, then wrapped it when tack dry. Made up LED position light from 4 white 3mm LED's in different directions and a 100ohm resistor, as the MOT tester didn't like it not being there last time.
Replaced sidestand spring.
Adjusted fork oil level to get forks a bit stiffer.
Cleaned out rear drum, adjusted to get travel just right.
Chain tension and oil.
MOT on Friday.

VFR - Went to put new copper exhaust gaskets on the front pipes, discovered PO has butchered one stud. Looks like they tapped it for 8mm, once on the piss and then tried again - there's 2 threads in the fucking hole instead of the sngle M6 thread. Debating if I can fit a Tapplok in there, or if I have to use a Helicoil.

I rode without a fuckin jacket on.
Ya boo sucks.
I wore a green top with SEQUINS on it, motherfuckers.
Bollocks to this heat.

And I burnt my arse on the engine. At least I had proper jeans on, but it overheats so fucking much just going from Chelsea to Canning Tahn. Godforsaken tractor Laughing

Still ... flirted mightily with most of the drivers on the way, so all was not lost.

*punches air beside herself with a small "yay" fist*

Tyre pressures, a wipe over and some chain lube before a ride out to Henstridge with my mate Mike. Only had the 1
run on the runway. That's Mike on the Daytona in the pic. Was a decent ride down there, a good blast on the runway and
a belter of a twighlight ride home on miraculously clear roads. Seemed to take half the time to get home than it did to get
there. Quick bikes those Daytonas!!

Washed the ZX6R and the R1 (a rare event), oiled the chains, adjusted the tyre pressures. The R1 is booked in for an MOT tomorrow. The ZX6R also needs an MOT but I haven't got around to fixing the leaky forks. That was in the plan for this week's "staycation" but it's been too hot. Maybe I should let the bike shop do it.

MOT pass for the R1, and a nice chat at Pit Stop M/C, Letchworth. Some interesting bike's there too. Booked the ZX6R in next Saturday to have the fork seals looked at, followed by an MOT, but I agreed to leave it there for a few days.

In the meantime I'd noticed that the Kawasaki's front wheel was binding so I unbolted the calipers and hung them from the brake lever and handlebar with string. The front wheel spins freely without them so I removed the pads on the left caliper and cleaned everything that side with brake cleaner and a toothbrush. Unfortunately the RHS caliper anti-rattle spring had a rounded bolt preventing further disassembly but I'll sort it with my new Dremel cordless later.

Incidentally, I'm always amazed that the exhaust pipes have sufficient strength to be jacking points, be it a car jack or a bottle jack and a block of wood.

Replaced the HP Corse Hydroform end can on my Striple because even with the baffle in, on long motorway rides it was annoying.

Unfortunately nothing looks as good as the HP Corse to me, but I needed to do it.

So gone from this sexy thing:
