Went from this - On a 250 single it sounds fucking retarded.

To this - Sounds far better (but not a patch on a twin with Yoshi's)

I regularly go to work at 5:30AM, and most of my neighbours are decent.

It came with the bike. Given there's no corrosion at all on it, but there is on the link pipe, I'm actually inclined to say it's either a very good fake, or genuine. Either way, it's far too fucking loud.

Replaced regulator rectifier.

Yesterday on the way to work the dash suddenly went out then 30 seconds later the engine died, thankfully only around one mile away from work - walk of shame knackered me out but glad it didn't die on the M25.

It went home on the back of an AA trailer, bloody honda.

Diagnosed a faulty reg/rec while at work (multi meter under the seat FTW). Ordered one from Ebay, arrived today and job jobbed - all working now.

The culprit

Interestingly the one that was fitted is made for a cbr 600, not a 929 fireblade - I've only just bought this bike so finding these things out as they come up.

Carry a load of them under the seat, for quick replacement...

Or just replace it with an R1 reg/rec Thumbs Up

I'd take the 'blade every time. Chuck an FH002 MOSFET reg on it, and it's all good.

As there were no rear paddock stand bobbins on the newer Triple, i thought i'd just take them off the other, until i ordered another pair at least.

But, the RHS bobbin on the older one will NOT come off. The allen key head is knackered, and there's no way other than drilling it out as you can't get any sort of grip on the bolt, which sits flush with the bobbin. Heat would probably wreck the finish on the swingarm too, so that's no good either.

Ok, may as well leave it in then, rather than turning it into a right old mess. And, instead of ordering some and having to wait, why not just make 'em..?

Enter short bit of ally cylinder...

https://www.planetash.net/bcf/bobbins/1.jpg

And turn it into this...

https://www.planetash.net/bcf/bobbins/2.jpg

Turn it around for another...

https://www.planetash.net/bcf/bobbins/3.jpg

And there we go...two bobbins.

https://www.planetash.net/bcf/bobbins/4.jpg

So then i go to fit them, but obviously a previous owner has had the same problem. Except rather than just leave it on, he butchered the bloody thing so much there's no thread/nut for it to go into. Look at that. The fucking animal.

https://www.planetash.net/bcf/bobbins/5.jpg

At least the other side is ok...

https://www.planetash.net/bcf/bobbins/6.jpg

Now i've got to tidy up the mess he left, and then figure a way of inserting a thread for the bobbin in there.

Anyone know what the swingarm is actually made of? Would be good to know what metal exactly i'm going to be dealing with.

It needs a car rebuild and fork seals but apart from that is nice and tidy!

Im pleased he did, it's my first bike from when I was 17. I regretted selling it.

The old Onda got a new fuel pressure regulator, the faulty one was dripping out of where the vacuum hose connects to. Replacement came all the way from a seller in Florida, Fowlers wanted near on £300 for a replacement and on back order.

Quick start up of the bike after and what a difference it has made, now sounds sweet as a nut as they say..

Also oil and filter change, Motul 5100, hiFlo filter - job done.

Discovered a world of rust hiding under the exhaust clamp on the original exhausts.

Thankfully I'd already replaced these for aftermarket ones not long after I got the bike, but it looks like I'll be selling a grandad bike on with anti-social cans in the future. Laughing

I'd be tempted to weld a new end onto that - nothing to lose.

Given I have the broken piece I'd imagine for someone with the right skills they could just clean it up and weld the broken piece back on, but I don't have any welding equipment and can be glad that I'd already put the aftermarket cans on.

Darn the CBF1000 for having two, comes expensive when attempting to find anything aftermarket. Shocked

Not to make up too much of your time since I'll probably sell them separate to the bike, eventually, but I'm taking it you mean cut the end off and replace with a more perfect one (angle grind and then weld replacement on)?

Yes that. I'm sure that somewhere on eBay the parts can be had? Probably car exhaust components or something.
Just seems a waste that's all. Especially if it can be salvaged to make a half decent spare. All about cost at the end of the day though.
Thin metal welding is difficult. It will need someone with more than just a stick welder.
