When I bought it it was sold as a none runner, backfiring and not going above 4000RPM.
In the paperwork was a receipt for £450 for a full carb rebuild. Odd it still wasnt running right.
Today I found the culprit. The wrong spark plugs were fitted.
A quick trip to Hellfrauds and the correct plugs bought.
It now runs like a new bike!!

Next on the list is fork seals. |
Little update.
Turned up a set of OE clocks on ebay to replace the bodged on aftermarket set.
Luckily the old wiring harness and plug was untouched so it was a straight swap.
The clocks needed a little bit of repair internally as the mounts were cracked and the fuel gauge does not work but the look much better than the bodge job.

The shopping list is growing.
This evening I bought genuine fork sels and bushes, fork oil, a lithium battery, speedo cable.
I would like to fit some braided hoses and a Coerce top yoke with raisers.
I really want to find a period yoshi or beet system for it the same as when I owned it in the 90's.

Didn't see your original post that you were now a fellow Suzuki 400 owner hun
Have to say i'd be wary of the VVT engine knowing what i know now regarding valve shim and camchain availability.
Anyway if you are sourcing a fruity pipe it really needs a FacPro pod kit or a set of TMR33's on it ..fap.. ____________________ Be a REAL MAN! |

Last few days on the Enfield
Changed oil (twice used 1 as a flush), when I bought it it still had original oil.
Cleaned or replaced filters.
Cursed the design of the oil filler cap and the crank sensor wire (they interfere with each other).
Fitted dual seat and cowl, the solo seat was a torture rack.
Replaced Battery.
Setup preload/sag on the arse end. The criticism journalists gave these shocks was unfair they work fine. I suspect some of the panning came from bikes not setup properly, this was still on "factory" settings and the preload was set quite differently on each side. The real weak link in the suspension is the front end, bottoms out easily.
It needs a Power Commander and some dyno time to sort the filter and pipe (the cost of this to make it idle better and sound less like a major mortar strike on the over run though is not proportionate). I'm pondering if just deleting the o2 sensor will force it to run slightly richer? Or if this is retarded.
Been eyeing up Hitchcocks website, could be dangerous it appears you can burn crazy sums modifying these bikes.
Also polished it alot

Another evening on the Blandit.
Sorry no pictures as I left my phone at home and its in a mates garage.
Tried to balance the carbs but struggled, whipped them off and found 33bhp (or whatever the restriction is now) restrictors behind them.
Once removed and the carbs refitted and seated correctly it starts, runs and idles perfectly.
Banged a new battery in.
Stripped the forks to replace the seals only to find it needs bushes.
SGP bushes ordered, found a pair of braided hoses in the shed. They are slightly too long but will fit.
Needs a headlight bulb, i think I have a nightbreaker somewhere.
It needs a loud can. ____________________ Quietly and consistently taking the piss.

Took the Hyosung GT250r in to the shop today for an MOT and while it was there I got them to put on a nice new shiny Black Widow full exhaust.
No re-jetting required happy days,!
It’s half the weight of the original and is only a little bit louder than the original.

As per my other post, skipped messing with the exhaust on the Rebel and sorted the mudguard instead:
