Ride faster, avoid exposed areas, avoid a situation of slowing traffic on an exposed bridge, much safer to lane split...

Its weird. Maybe I am slowing down. As the wind picks up I end up like a gutter ball, wobbling to the kerb. Thinking about it, I might even be fixating a bit. I'll give it another go. Cheers.

Has anyone tried the "sticking the knee out to act as a sail" method?

My only option on the faux-cruiser Sad

Can't say I'm really all that bothered by wind since I put the screen on though.

After ignoring it for a few years and using it as a table to roll joints on for a while decided to do something to it.

Removed engine, now my table weighs less

Some of the crap around that sprocket may be older than me.

Waded through shin deep water then completed my ride through snow. I don’t think that’s quite the use Kawasaki has in mind for their flagship ‘fastest production bike in the world’ when they designed it!

Enfield is getting close to 1000 miles so figured I'd drop the oil and do the filter again.

Only the finest motorcycle specific oil for me Laughing

As well as a filter it has a strainer that had caught a bit of swarf. Being a tight git I cleaned it and reused.

Made it go brap. (right click unmute)

Picked up a nice stainless end can to use while I wait for the beet system to come from Trumpland.

Also banged on a lithium battery and a pair of dynacoils.

Got the drill and whizzy wheel onto the headers for my GSXR400 to get rid of the worst loose rust then applied a liberal coat of Plastikote BBQ paint. They havn't rusted through but they weren't in a good way, basically the last coat of HT paint was fucking useless and flaked off, coupled with one 100 mile trip on salted roads last year to the dyno which not only turned the exhaust as rotten as Bodyguard's teeth but ruined the rest of the bike as well.

I attempted to get some heat into the pipes to cure the paint with a hot air gun but this was like trying to knit fog so I shoved as much into the oven as possible and whacked in on gas mark 9 for 90 minutes which seemed to do the trick, result is a completely uniform flat finish which will hopefully last a year or two.

I've got a Bandit system like that in the loft as an insurance policy if i'm ever stuck for a pipe on my GSXR. Have to change sump to fit it though. Intention is to go to stick coils on mine as it means less dismantling to remove the rocker cover.

Replaced brake fluid on Striple and bled the system.

TuneECU (phone app) now operates the ABS pump solenoid, which means I can bleed the ABS pump for the first time in 6 years (could have paid Triumph dealer before but went the non-technical route of occasionally triggering the ABS when out on the bike).

Not something I wanted. But I was young(er), (even more) foolish and 0% APR meant a new bike

Don't worry, my newer and nearly twice as powerful Gixxer doesn't have ABS.

I must confess that I've noticed my reactions are definitely worse than 5 years ago. Maybe ABS isn't a bad thing......even though it adds weight and is expensive to fix.

I've ridden out in the bad weather in the last few weeks and had a few "abrupt stops" and so far I've not managed to trigger the ABS. I can only assume it'd have to be a real "oh shit!" moment for it to kick in.

I'm sure my next two wheels will have it, whether I want it or not.

New exhaust fitted, 5.7kg lighter, twice as loud but throatier.

Flashed a suitable tune using TuneEcu from my mobile phone Cool, thing is popping and banging on the overrun, can is borderline obnoxiously loud, but it does improve the character no end.

I could block off the eco-bollocks SAI/SAS/PAIR* valve with a ballbearing to stop the backfires, but I might take it on a wee run first for a laugh.

*secondary air injection, added to a lot of bikes to improve emissions.

Ride faster, avoid exposed areas, avoid a situation of slowing traffic on an exposed bridge, much safer to lane split. I ride everyday. Its not too wet down here in the south but the number of fuckwit cars Ive seen in ditches and off the road is crazy. Its not the weather, but other drivers I am worried about, but you get that all year round. Sod being on a bus in bad weather!

Something clicked last night. We had a surprise windy session on the ride back from work. Its sounds weird, but when I wasn't thinking about the winds too much, I started doing "bum stuff". It was almost a lean, but not. Hard to explain. It kept me in a straight line and I got home feeling a lot better about taking the bike in the wind.

Except tomorrow when we have really high winds forecast. Fuck that.

A few weeks ago I found the same Beet titanium system on ebay as I had on the bike in the 90's.
It was sold in "good unmarked condition"

The seller was a liar. The end can was broken internally, scratched and leaking. Downpipes and link pipe scratched and dented.

After a bit of an argument I got my money back.

Today I cut down the can by 20mm to remove the damage, repacked it with new wadding re sealed it and polished it.
Cleaned and brushed the scrapes out of the downpipes.

Then fitted it.

God I have missed this bike.

Shakedown of the baby bandit today.

45 miles of various roads..... and I learned.

Chain is slack
Headstock bearings need adjusting
Flat spot at 5k rpm and a fluffy idle.
Fret likes it
He can't have it

I have been grinning all afternoon.

Middle Finger Laughing

Fisty appeared on the bandit as me and Recluso were waking our bikes up from thier slumber.

Then he buggered off with a grin on his face.

4hrs off and on cleaning both bikes, CBR6 was manky.

Lots of disposable cloths caked in oily gunk now gone in the bin, which might have been used as toilet paper in desperation.

Might have to buy cheap knickers to wipe my arse on, then sell em on to King29.

Gave the ST7 it's post winter full clean, not bothered re-coating in acf-50, as, hopefully, we've had the last of the gritters, did the same with the Interceptor as well, just the Imperiale left winterised, which I will leave it as for a few more weeks, then give that a thorough clean.

Nipper did the same on her Superlight, the Mash 50 will be done towards the end of April before it's put up for sale, as that will have been superceeded by another Superlight, which we picked up and put into storage a couple of weeks ago.
