Their partnership with Honda was in the '70's. I wouldn't be surprised if that is a long forgotten aircooled motor modified to the modern age with LC, FI, etc.

had mine outside, took off the wheel cover at the back to see how it looks, and I like it. So need a chain guard so I can leave it off.

Also cleaned and give it a good protector cover.

I've actually cleaned, then polished and then protected The Black Kwak with ACF50 today...the bike is officially clean and shiney again. No pics because I can't for the life of me remember how to load an image via the laptop. Laughing

Fitted the Givi v35 panniers on for the first time. I can't say I like the added width since it's 2 or 3 inches past the handlebars/mirrors but I don't do much filtering anyway. Glad that the cover still goes over the bike with panniers attached, since part of the point of having panniers in the first place was to carry the cover.

The baby bandit.

Drilled out and tapped the clip ons to fit bar end weights.
Re routed the speedo cable.
Cleaned and polished it.
Fitted some paddock stand bobbins.
Straghtened the headlight bowl as it was dented.

Just need to sort the scabby rocker cover now,

I have already cut it down by 20mm, I dont fancy rejetting with cutting it down any more.
That can is rarer than rocking horse poo with hens teeth in!!

Plus I am trying to keep it as period as possible.

You're damn right about the indicators though, beautiful little things.

Rear brake caliper rebuild with stainless pistons. It was weeping a touch when you stood on the rear in anger, but would probably pass an MOT. That said, it wasn't hard or expensicve, so why not?

https://i.imgur.com/AYJHEnsl.jpg
All apart, no flying piston injuries.

https://i.imgur.com/cS2ha4Nl.jpg
Old pistons were millered. Looks like someone had mole grips on them.

https://i.imgur.com/y0E5YmUl.jpg?1
Cleaned out, new seals and pistons fitted.

https://i.imgur.com/CyW2j8il.jpg
Rebuilt, refitted, and I also gave the wheels a good scrubbing as they were manky.

I have just put a new front tyre on. The front wheel bearings felt a little graunchy, despite passing the MOT a few weeks ago, so I have ordered a set and will refit the wheel after I have popped them in. Turned out all the wheel bearing kits in my spares cupboard were for my previous bike, a Varadero and the sizes don't match.

This not needing the bike for work next day does have some advantages.

Best part yet to come will be getting engine case bolt/studs out and repairing the engine case.

Oh.what.immense.fun. Brick Wall

Couldn't get a strong enough weld onto the remainder of the bolts.
Resorted to drilling out, not pretty but it's done now. Holes are not blind, so a nut and bolt straight through will do, there's not enough meat left for a helicoil and tapping is a no go.

JB welded the missing piece of the engine case back into place. Will bodge it further with some steel putty to strengthen it up tomorrow.

Oil filter on ready to fill, battery charged so if it doesn't leak oil it should at least be running soon.

Got it all sealed up, oil tight. Filled with oil, charged battery fully.
Tried cranking, spinning up but not firing.
No FI error code flashes, killswitch, sidestand switch, fuel relay all tested ok.

I'd only forgot to plug the headlight unit back in. Laughing
The bank angle sensor is attached to the top of the headlight, without it attached the fuel pump cuts off, no warnings given. I realised when I couldn't hear the fuel pump priming.

Running ok now, will check closely for oil seeping out tomorrow and charge the battery again as the repeated cranking had drained it.

Just needs chain and sprockets, indicators on the front and fairings, parts ordered just waiting for delivery.

The Suzuki is now good for another year with a clean sheet.

I went to fit new foot pegs and then discovered the pins holding them together are peened over Sad Ordered some generic clevis pins after drilling out the old ones.

No, just there and back. My usual MOT guy is 12 miles from my place according to the bikes odometer, and the road there has the odd decent spot. I am still riding to/from work though, so no withdrawal symptoms.

Thought I'd work on one of my own. RC8 will be having the secondary air injection (PAIR, SAI, SAS whatev) valve removed to make it less antisocial (reduced backfiring) and smoother on the throttle.

While I'm down there I'll be checking the valves, changing plugs and air filter, oil was done recently.

Getting the airbox off was a Brian CANT of a job. This needs to come off to clear out the emissions crap, and valve clearance checking. Changing plugs will be a doddle while it's off so it would be rude not to.

The airbox rubbers are held on with clamps, and getting to the 3mm allen heads in such a confined space inside the airbox was hard enough. But on top of that the rubbers were held on with years of never being off friction. Plenty of WD40 squirted between the intake and the rubbers meant it came off eventually with assistance of a big crow bar. After it came off I saw the removable access hole cover to make it easier to get to the machine screws that were holding the rubbers on Brick Wall

Air filter was manufactured in 2015, I'm guessing that all sales people are lying bastards, they said it had been serviced. Well by the amount of shit that blew off when blasted with compressed air they're talking turtle bollox.

New air filter, plugs, sas blanking plates & 16T front sprocket on order.
Will get the cam covers off tomorrow for valve check. Bet that's never been done either!

Today I've ordered a fuel filter (from Germany due the fact they're rather like hens teeth) for an early Monster.
Yesterday I ordered oil filter and crush washers for the ZZRs yearly oil change.
The day before I ordered a new battery for the Monster.
I'm imagining a large pile of bits waiting for me when I eventually get home - whenever that is!

Stripped the brembo 19x20 master cylinder on the TLR. Fitted new seal kit as it was sticking internally.

Will bleed it up tomorrow.

1100 came back last week after being on holiday since November 2018. Full engine rebuild using only genuine Suzuki parts in the original bags. Rings, shells, camchain, 3rd gear all replaced.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49727719247_cb27b4051f_h.jpg

Decided to replace the wiring loom as the old one is starting to throw up some odd issues, oil light working only intermittently and an occasional fault somewhere in the sidestand cutout / diode circuit where you lose neutral light and sparks untill the stand switch is operated again. Still available new.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49727719332_8b0bdd998f_h.jpg

While doing this I also have a ZX10 radial master cylinder to fit (ordered new hoses), new ignition switch to sort (security bolts Evil or Very Mad ). Can't even test ride or MOT the thing so might as well do fucking everything.
