scooter variator

so my friend has a 50cc 2007 yamaha aerox. it's great, pretty much stock, but the variator keeps untightening. i don't know much about scooters, because i'm more used to mopeds and old bikes.

It's either missing a locking washer/split pin or you are supposed to use threadlock fluid.

I'd be more inclined to think it's the former because undoing a variator with threadlock on it would be a complete arse.

BTW a one way clutch is exactly that, it only works one way.

Edit: If the kicjstart doesn't go back into position then theres something wrong with the spring or how it's located.
